I picked up Thief from Gamersgate, I've fond memories of playing it back when, figured I'd give it another shot. I've had some trouble though:
As I start the game, I get some audio (does sound like an intro movie) but the game crashes after less than a second.
I downloaded and installed the indeo 5 video codecs, and I ran the " regsvr32 ir50_32.dll " line in the command prompt, though I had to do it with cmd.exe running as an administrator to make it work. Now, if I play any of the movies in windows media player, they work fine. If I run them in VLC it says I don't have the correct codec installed. Not certain what I've done wrong or how to fix this, and any help would be appreciated.
I'm on Windows Vista Business 64 bit SP1, Intel core2 Quad processor, 8 gigs ram, Nvidia Quadro FX 2700M graphics card.

Moving this to the technical help forum. Hopefully somebody there will be able to assist you!

first thing to do would be renaming the movies folder (this will disable them,to make sure they are not interfering),and installing (

if the game runs fine after this,we can get back to fixing the video playback.
