Hello everyone
I have finally managed to get DarkLoader (thanks SneaksieGarrett!) running and was eager to try Night in Rocksbourg, however I am experiencing crappy performance/occasional stuttering when looking at distant city/too many objects.
I tried voodoo47's advice to change edit cam_ext.cfg with adding d3d_disp_limit_gpu_frames 1 1 but that did not help (well, the game starts and loads faster). Maybe I am doing it wrong, can you post your cam_ext.cfg? I am thankful for any advice.
My specs are - i7 3820 3,6 GHz, GTX 560, 8 GB DDR3, 60Hz monitor and Win7 64bit and the version of the game is 1.21, DarkLoader is 4.3.

You might consider checking out "Taffer Patcher" Follow the instructions carefully!

I'd have to agree with DarthsLair. While your machine certainly seems capable, TafferPatcher can install Thief 2 and set it all up correctly. Install it clean with the default options instead of trying to tweak every setting; you can always do that later. I had all sorts of problems until I let TP do all the work.
Also ensure you're not running a lot of stuff in the background. If the bottom right of your taskbar has icons running too far to the left, you're weighing the machine down. As CPUs have gotten faster, RAM cheaper, etc, software engineers are unconcerned with bloated and inefficient code. (Usually because the profit-hungry suits upstairs are screaming at them to wrap it up.)
Run it mean and run it lean.

Vojtechsonik's pc specs are truckloads better than mine and there are very few missions that cause me problems. Having said that though, if you do want to check what unnecessary programmes might be running, you could check out (
http://www.blackviper.com/) this site. I've been using his tweaks for years now - to good effect.

Thanks a lot guys for help, but I am certain the problem is not with background programs. So I guess I have to try a TafferPatcher once I am home, or try to reinstall the game with TafferPatcher.

Vojtechsonik, I had the same problem and someone suggested I use Tafferpatcher so I uninstalled completely, then reinstalled using tafferpatcher. Haven't had a problem since.

Okay, so now I have the same problem with T2X after installation of newest TafferPatcher. And on top of that, I see a window bar every time I want to see objectives/map/readable (damn immersion breaker!). Should I apply the patch on T2X (and how) or reinstall it? Thanks a lot guys in advance! Hopefully this will be the last time I am bothering you. (well, there is still Thief 3 which I hate so far :cheeky:)

try to copy paste cam_ext.cfg from your T2 folder into your T2x folder.
