With that sentiment, we can also nominate the Gypsy Kings' version of "Hotel California," partly because it's awesome, and partly because I fucking hate the Eagles, man.

Ahem. I like Snake River Conspiracy's cover of How Soon Is Now? better than the original. But then again, I like tatu's cover of it better than the original.

I thought that South Park's Eric Cartman rendition of "Poker Face" was better than the original.

Chalk up another one for Johnny Cash - Hurt, Ray LaMontagne - Crazy and Gypsy Kings - Hotel California.
It probably doesn't really count as a cover but Busted In The Hood by Cypress Hill is even more awesome than the original Beastie Boys song.

I can't tell if you're bring serious here (I don't like the SRC cover) but 10 points for knowing who they are. I don't think I've met anyone in rl who has heard of them.
Not heard the tatu version.

Joe Cocker's "A Little Help From My Friends". Vastly superior to the Beatles version. And I say that as a massive Beatles fan. In fact, that is the only cover of a Beatles tune that's better than the original.
Couldn't agree more. I also prefer Cocker's version of "The Letter".
