I have a problem with the courtesy quest from the Imperial Legions. I need to challenge Salyn Sarethi to a contest of wit, poetry and riddles. Unfortunately when I speak to him, he just say I need to challenge him to contest of wit, poetry and riddles. How do I trigger the contest ? I have completed this quest in the past but now I can't and I can't remember how I did it last time.
As far as I know. It should trigger new options in the dialog and I just need to select the response and thats it.
Any ideas ? This is a modded games with a lot of mods. The only difference is I have new mods added. Could it be related to the speechcraft ?

Is one of the new mods your are running now Pax Redoran? It usurps that quest but only if the player does not belong to the Imperial Legion.
I just checked it again in the editor. The response that you are receiving from Salyn Sarethi is the one filtered for IL_Courtesy < 10 which implies that for all intends and purposes you have not started the quest yet. Under the topic ‘orders’, Frald the White tells you that the Buoyant Armigers claim the Legion has no courtesy. In order to get the required journal update to advance the quest with Salyn Sarethi you need to speak with Frald the White on the topic ‘courtesy’. I suspect that you forget to do that before you left Ebonheart.

That is what I initial though so I returned to speak the commander and choose all the possible dialog options and returned and no additional dialog options were available. I checked my journal and there is an entry there for the quest under courtesy.
Could it I needed to complete all the dialog with Frald initially before leaving ? I don't recall missing any dialog options.
I am not running Pax Redoran.
Anyway, my game has become very unstable recently so I need to reinstall the game again and start from scratch. :(

The critical topic with Frald the White is ‘courtesy’. His reply to that topic is the one that provides the journal update that filters Salyn Sarethi’s response.
Before you toss your present save, you might want to clean it with Wrye Mash. Dumping some unnecessary references might make your game more stable.

I did speak to Frald about courtesy and still no luck. :(
