Nowadays, I probably read TTLG 50% in a browser, 50% on Tapatalk. Couple of things I've noticed while using Tapatalk; not sure whether they can be 'fixed' as such - and even if, whether it's TTLG that needs to do the fixing, or Tapatalk - but I thought I'd bring them up anyway.
1.
I know the standard spoiler tags got changed from
to some time ago, which is obviously great in the online version. In Tapatalk, though, isn't recognised, so all those spoilers always show up. I'm assuming this is because is non-standard?
Is there a way to get Tapatalk to recognise *, or could it be changed to
when reading Tapatalk? I'm guessing not on the latter, but thought I'd ask anyway.
* On that note, I'm not even sure whether Tapatalk recognises
, so here's a self-test:
Gonna check this in Tapatalk, I will.
[edit] Yep, this works in Tapatalk. [/edit]
2.
This is probably more down to my reading habits rather than anything wrong with the code, but here goes anyway.
I've got it set up so that every time I get a new message in my inbox an alert notification pops up in the browser. This doesn't happen all that often, since I've got so few friends. :(
Lately, I've noticed this not happening anymore, so I've managed to miss quite a few messages coming in. My guess is, I must've been reading TTLG on Tapatalk when the new message came in, so then the system believes I've already been notified of the message once I go back to reading TTLG in the browser.
Is there any way to get the site to realise it's the first time I'm visiting it in the browser since receiving a new message, so that the popup still comes up?
As I said, no idea whether any of this can be 'fixed', but any feedback obviously welcome. Cheers.

Why not read the message in Tapatalk?

It's not about the reading of the message itself - I can do that in the browser or Tapatalk, no problem - but rather the pop up alert notifying me I've got a new message.
As I said, this is my reading habits more than anything else; if I just consciously check my messages every time I come here, I shouldn't miss any. Then again, the whole point of the pop up alert is for me not to have to do that.

I think it'll do what you want if you turn off private message notifications in Tapatalk. Go to Notifications and change the settings with the cog icon in the top right. Untick "Send me a Private Message" under "Also notify me when someone" and you should still get the pop-up when you visit the forum on a browser assuming you haven't read the message in Tapatalk.

Hrm. I've got version V2.7.1 (I'm on iOS), newly updated.
still doesn't work, unfortunately. Icemann's first post in the Godzilla thread, for example, looks like this:

Just to make sure, I'll try again: Anuvver test.
[edit] Nope. Doesn't work [/edit]
I've turned off the private message notification in Tapatalk now, at least. Let's see whether that does the trick once I get a new message. Cheers.
