Ok, I don't know if it's just because I live a sheltered life, but the graphics in this game and the overall complexity and attention to detail just blew me away. It seriously RAISED my standards of what I now expect in a game....
I can't remember actually ever playing another game where you constantly find yourself just stopping to "look around" , stopping to look at the sky and the horizon etc... stopping to listen to the waves etc.... waiting for a rain storm cuz you love the realistic sound of the thunder etc....
Anyways I think it is because everything seems so real that the little things really stick out....
Here's my contributions to the "coulda been better" list.
- walking up the tunneled walkways in vivec when its raining, and you still see rain falling when you obviously shouldn't
- running into a NPC that is an obvious slave/hooker and not being able to proposition her ( sex, nudity, romance, to me IS a part of a good adventure movie/game ) so I won't even mention the anoying inability to remove undergarmets....
*someone said you can change this with the editor?
- how enchanted eq actually has a 'shine or glimmer' to it wether you have any skill in enchantment or not.... someone like my char that knows nothing of magic shouldn't be able to tell an item is enchanted just by looking at it and seeing a "glimmer" not to mention how retarded you look wearing enchanted armour while trying to use stealth and "chameleon" spell...
- Lack of variety in some items.... I can find a whole bunch of different coloured shirts etc... but only one colour leather boot?
- wear only two rings at a time? my char has 8 fingers and 2 thumbs....
- the unrealistic communication skills of some NPC's.... Nobody else is in the room.... I'm stealthed and 80% cameleon .... shoot an arrow at an ordinator and my crime is instantly reported.... bah if he didn't live to tell anyone how was it reported....
Well thats all I can think of for my personal gripes....
Back to that damn 3rd trial ......

There are a lot of small things wrong with this game, but you probably wouldn't find them if you didn't like it.
And about the rain thing, I'd guess that it would put a 25-50% higher load on the processor when it rains ie. severe slowdown.

Diablo explained this by saying that the rings' magic interferes with one another if you have multiple rings in close proximity (ie, more than one on a hand). Pretty much every game I can think of with magic rings has followed suit since then.

See that rating on the box? It says "T", not "AO".

Yes, because you know how, in a psuedo-Medieval setting,
everyone dyed their leather boots purple. ;)
I've heard about Nit-Picking, but you should really learn to just enjoy the game for what it is.

It limits the amount of über cheese you can do.

That's right. I remembered that *something* had set the precedent before... just couldn't remember what. Knew someone would call me on that.
