COSAS 2 Mission X - Available Now ... 8-15-08 - by Digital Nightfall

The roster will seem unimportant until Rubber reports in that things could be going south. After that it becomes available to pick up and use. Are you sure you haven't reloaded to a save previous to Rubber reporting in? That would explain your issue assuming it's not a bug. Lord knows with New Dark and the seriously complex scripting of MX something might have broken.

I didn't go to the third floor until after Rubber indicated he'd been spotted and he asked me to finish his nightly rounds. When he spoke and Dante agreed, should the objectives have also updated? They didn't, and the roster remains unreadable. Hmm....
Should I return Cloud's key first? I mean, if there's a specific sequence of events.... Well, I'll try that, and see then what's what. Maybe the roster only becomes active after I've completed my other objectives. At this point, it's either that explanation, or a bug.
Edit: I did experience one bug after completing the mission the first time, without finishing Rubber's tasks. I had discovered the identity of Cloud's mistress and
marked her door with a dust bomb, but when I finished the mission the was a cross stating I failed that task. Made no sense to me. Another bug? Who knows. Everything else seems to work fine, even the movies before and after.

Talk about nostalgia setting in...
This was such a pleasure to play.

Should I return Cloud's key first? When Rubber and Dante gives you the option and you choose to finish his nightly rounds, the objectives should change to reflect this. The list in the closet should also be available then. If it didn't there's something wrong.

This is not a bug. As long as you
dust bomb any door, you get the objective checked off. However, after the mission is done you'll see whether this actually was the correct room or not. If it wasn't, the objective will be canceled with a red cross. A very clever tactic from the mission designers. Only one door is the correct one, but there are plenty to choose from.

Well, there's the fault then. That's why the roster won't become active. Bugger....

How sneaky of them :) Guess I got the wrong door.
I dustbombed a door where there was a ticking clock. Apparently the wrong ticking clock!

Not sure if this is a well documented thing, but...
Finally got thief FM's running on my macbook pro! (parallels works very nicely!)
First issue I've noticed: When I try to play COSAS 2: Mission X, I just end up trapped in a dark (but not pitch-black) box. Maybe 4ft by 4ft by 8ft. I can see a couple inches in front of my face, and can move and jump a little bit, but that's it. Is this a catch-all fix for players who are missing scripts? I know some missions will confine players who lack the necessary scripts, though typically it will reveal this information to the player in a transparent fashion (e.g. Lord Fishkill's curse instructing players to install Gayle Savers scripts when frobbing the first door).
Anyone else had this issue and know a solution? I do love this mission and hope to replay it again over the coming holidays!

There was a black box in the first version, but it was removed due to unreliability. MX includes all the necessary scripts. Make sure you have the latest version, 1.13.

That solved it, thanks!

First time I have tried playing with New Dark 1.22, When I get the mask in the bathroom I can not use it to really start the mission. Has anyone else had this and know the fix?

Hmm, that's strange. Just fired up the mission to see. Never tried playing it on ND 1.21 or 1.22. I'm playing on ND 1.22/Darkloader, and everything is playing fine, mask and all... Make sure to have the latest version of the mission, latest scripts and make sure they're all loaded. Other than that, don't know, hope this helps.
