This discussion followed up from (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=149680) there, this is a FM thread and this isn't the correct place for this issue.
-There are no informations about OS, Video Device, software, etc. You also don't provide any informations
-In Thief2.log (actually: whatever Wine provides) a big bunch of errors related to the video device are listed. Mostly distortionfx.

A fundamental problem such as that is best solved by deleting your entire Thief installation and reconstructing it from scratch.

Using mission version 114, I crash on loading with:
Quote:
Runtime error r6031
Attempt to initialize the CRT more than once
This indicates a bug in your installation
It's only this mission I have problems with. Version 113 also had the same problem.
EDIT: Fixed by installing T2Fix 1.27c. I must have had an earlier version and not realised.

The problem was likely caused by NewDark's multiplayer component, provided you chose to install it. When installing it manually or using rather old T2Fix versions, the script modules included can cause compatibility issues when using them with the singleplayer executable and with certain FMs. More recent T2Fix versions, however, install multiplayer in a manner that will allow it to behave nicely with the rest of the install and avoid this.

R Soul released a ND upgrade version of this mission last year available (
https://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=149211) here
It is highly recommended you play the ND version as many scripts were failing in the original Mission X due to ND.
Whether R Soul checked the ND version for multiplayer compatibility is a question only he can answer, but I'm guessing he may well have.

I just finished the 2 missions of CoSaS. While I loved gathering at the inn, I have mixed feelings about mission X.
The atmosphere, the design, the characters and the voice acting, the quality itself is topnotch. You can easily see that only professionals were working on this masterpiece. The main character Dante is very likeable and has a great voice actor, just like all the other characters in his team.
On the other hand the gameplay is what threw me off completely. The forced ghosting especially. You can´t turn off most of the lights (at least not until you get on the highest floor and find the key) and there are so many guards you can´t knock out and only use 9 times the dagger to make them unconscious (and that on the easiest difficulty level, higher I assume it´s even less). The first task I had was stopping the elevator from moving. It was so annoying getting down there to the switch, then to the fuse box and then out of there while the place was swarming with high-alerted guards with barely any shadow to hide in. Later on the higher floors it didn´t get any better. I wait in the shadow till the guard walks by, get out, another guard is coming from behind, get back to my shadow and wait, he walks by, I get out and run to the next door, which is locked so I have to lockpick it and already the next two guards come along (from both sides), so I have to load again and do the whole shit again. This happened to me several times and made me almost drop the whole thing in the middle of the game.
So yeah all in all for me mission X is quite the eye-candy, but it´s not sth. I´d want to play again.

I also have a bit mixed feelings towards Mission X: I like how detailed this level is (for it's enormous size - and it was a bit sad that you cannot enter all the rooms) and also all new bells and whistles that change gameplay experience. Many tasks and dynamic plot also contribute huge. But at the same time it felt too keyhunty for its own good: you really should seek for the many keys for many un-lockpickable doors. That was biggest drowback of mission for me. Also, considering those new aforementioned bells and whistles... I know, teamwork is a distinctive feature of MX, making it different from usual Thiefy experience, but I found it a bit annoying, when other team-members begin to hurry up you, and the main task may be even failed if you will go at the beginning to do your own business for a long rather than sabotaging Ivory Rose.

Definitely! I'm amazing that Digi managed to wrangle such a talented team.

Most of the electric lights can be disabled by water arrows, but it takes two arrows. This may have been mentioned in the copious notes, but that was way too much information for a player to absorb, so I don't fault anyone for not knowing it.

There are actually very few rooms that require keys! However, the back entrances are sometimes very difficult to notice. The two vent systems give many back entrances, as do the outside balconies and the rafters in the central foyer.
At one point, it was possible to complete a "challenge run" of the level that required you to take no keys except for the ventilation key and Cloud's key, but I think that became impossible once the two clubhouse areas were added.
