We are not supposed to know that it's scripted like this. The NPCs tell you sometimes when you ask for latest rumours that 'it's difficult to catch it, but harder yet to get rid of it. In fact, I hear there is no cure' (or something like that).
This makes for a better roleplaying experience, IMO. Another thing we don't know and have to worry about.

Hmm, interesting. Can you catch Blight disease, then? I'm curious about all this as I never caught a single disease in the game other than corprus, despite spending ages treking around the island and coming into contact with all sorts of horrible filthy creatures (and no, I'm not including Uncle Crassius in that description :cheeky: )

Yep. I've caught a blight disease a few times. Common disease too. You must be pretty lucky... I'm wondering if you can cath the Plague in Bloodmoon. (It's not even important to the game, so don't go off on me about spoiling something!) Someone without immunity should go find out.

How long can i hold onto Corpus for? Can it kill me?

Forever, and no, it can't kill you. But you can't beat the game with it unless you take the backpath method, but having corprus might ruin the chances of even that working.
And it does lower some stats... I don't know if I mentioned it here or not, but your starts go into the negative even if they show up as zero. Eventually your strength might be 999, but your intelligence (does it drain that?) will be -999 and it'll take a lot of restore potions to get it back.
