That line made me think of a spoofed Intel logo: "Shodan inside!" :p
...or one of those Novell Netware ones: "Yes, it runs with Shodan!"...

As for the original topic: What other games was your friend interested in? Try to reference their good aspects in System Shock ("See, you can open doors and walk through them in SS2, too"...)

Ok to get back to topic, why should your friend play system shock 2?
Well beacuse the game is rather unique, it's like, in my opinon, no other game you can find at the moment (excluding bioshock and ss1). What is interesting about this game is that it is sutible for most people... I mean if you like to play rpgs, the game has that. If you like to play FPS, it has that as well, and if you like adventure, or horror the game is full of it. You got psi powers, hacking, moddifing stuff (though the modding isn't that interesting), they even trou in a couple of puzzules. Though it would have be fun to have choices that affect the story, that does not matter really. By the way, if your friend does not like old graphics, just tell him that in the day they where advanced, and if he reply's badly tell him to suck it up, or you can take the easy aproche and just install some mods :D .
