When using my T1/TG Dromed install earlier today, Dromed told me the file was missing, and sure enough it was....no big deal as I had a clean install of TG Dromed install saved on an exterior HD, but before I shout at my computer supply co. telling them 'i told you there's a problem with my computer....now bleeding fix it'....it it known or even possible that such an important file such as convict.osm can just suddenly disappear from your Thief install, if so what is the likely cause of such misdemeanours by windows?
Thanks in advance

Misbehaving antivirus?

With all the annoying bugs I've had with my new computer, I would put money on it that's the problem....thankfully it was not critical....I just was wondering if this can happen as a known glitch of thief forum
trouble is windows has already been re-installed, but i'm now getting different bugs and issues occurring than before the re-install...it's on a daily basis, nothing so serious before, but every issue is only intermittent so it's almost impossible to demonstrate via remote access. I have a machine with 2 hard drives, on C:) I get script and texture issues when playing thief and on D:) I get constant lagging....it's the same with all 3 thief games.
It's as if windows / CPU / Graphics card or something has not fully and correctly installed and what ever i do using either HD i get different issues, but they can't work it out what's going on, and I can't prove anything :nono:
but i'll report this issue to them, along with when using picmonkey, every screenshot i save with them is now being saved as untitled.png rather than the usual dump000.png, and when i have opened up some screenshots in windows paint i had a fine grid layered over the screenshot....but that seems to have stopped now.
It's all terribly weird :grr:

Technical Q?
I have just got my laptop back from the supplier, they have replaced the Motherboard, SSD and RAM and everything seems OK part from one glitch which may be a Thief installation issue but could also be another computer bug, opinions and/or advise appreciated.
When playing TG (I have downloaded a fresh TG from GOG) whenever I frob something, loot, keys, arrows etc the item in question does NOT appear on screen.....Grrr.
Could this something to do with one of the Thief scripts that may not have installed correctly, if so which one, or does anyone have any other ideas why this may be happening (or not as the case appears).
Ps. This seems to only be an issue with TG, T2 seems to be working OK.

Not sure what you're talking about. There's a menu setting: Game-->auto-equip on/off Is it off?

Not sure what you're talking about.
copperstack, silverstack, canopic jar etc do not show up on screen in the bottom right hand corner when i pick them up, so i neither know what i have collected or know it's value.

Good suggestion, and yes it was turned off, but no change....I still can't see what I have just frobbed. :grr:
Edit: Just saw the On-screen notifications were turned off (never knew that option was available, nor have I ever needed to change that option) and now all is OK :D
Big time thank-you Unna.....Again!
You are an. . . .

Did you mean Goal Notification? Unless I'm mistaken, the notification setting only has to do with objectives. I don't see any setting called "On-Screen Notifications." The Auto Equip setting is likely the one that did the trick (as Unna suggested). When it's turned off, everything you pick up will go straight to your inventory and not show up on screen.
