Convenience buying (since drive-through liquor stores are not enough) - by heywood

Fancy! In Barcelona I would just go for an old-fashioned post-party kebab hehe

See, this just demonstrates how different people's priorities are. I don't feel I can really have an opinion on the existence of drive through services of any kind since there must be demand.
And rachel's email is the perfect demonstration of difference - if I were fortunate enough to be in Barcelona I'd not be having a kebab but something more decidedly Spanish.

Yes, kebab and shoarma (shawarma?) are also very popular post-party food. Those kebab/shoarma places are often open until very late in the night for that reason.

Isn't it more just any fast-food place that stays open late, though? Here it's McDonald's, for example, that drunk people flock to in the middle of the night.

I would be having whatever I could find that didn't have meat or fish in it. Tough place for veggies, Spain.

My guy, if you find a place in Barna that's open past midnight and claims to serve “Spanish” food, I can most likely guarantee it's a tourist trap. You might find a decent empanadas joint but that's more Argentinean/Chilean.
Real Spanish food is for daytime.

Dude, are you serious? There's loads of veggie stuff in Spain! Patats bravas, spinach and garbanzo beans, pisto etc. Escalivada!!! Spanish gazpacho? And if you're in the Basque country loads of the pintox are veggie. You can get veggie paella even.
But yeah, there's a lot of meat. And it's
good meat. I'm going to Spain (again again!) later in summer. Looking forward to it and the food is one big reason.

Can't say I've ever seen veggie paella, and patatas bravas usually has chicken stock in it. But yeah, I can eat cold tomato soup and spinach, lucky me.
Fortunately I like egg and chips, as everywhere seems to serve that.
You can actually buy veggie burgers in Spanish supermarkets now, so they at least acknowledge the existence of vegetarians these days. That is a step forward. I would estimate Spain is still about 40 years behind the UK though.
