I'll happily admit that I got the suggestion of a filesize limit small, but the problem with setting it to a physical area isn't much better since we aren't all building the same kinds of things, or to the same scale even.
As a simple exampe = the ceilings inside Krellick's Labyrinth seem to be at 256 units above the floor, while in TDS_Townhouse they were mostly 176 units up.
Other than that, the ibt sizes can be shrunk a bit by not using lots of different smeshs (I'm not sure about how reskins affect it), and not using many different NPCs. Add all of the types you think you'll need (don't worry about making them do anything to start with) and see what it does to the filesize.

Don't forget textures. I'm not actually using that many, but I'm guessing they're responsible for a fair amount of the filesize.

By popular demand the 25 mb limit no longer applies. As I personally have never made an ibt file, I can't suggest a new limit, so the entries can now be any size, but must still be only one load zone.
Some of the pics going around look amazing - I think some great things are going to come out of T3Ed. While my own mission crawls away in shame... :cheeky:

Thank you! Back to editing again.

So now we will have a couple of "Calendra's Legacy" sized missions and some "64 cubes"? :cheeky:

Hey, what's wrong with 64 cube levels? ;)
I shall take them and claim them as my own! Creating 64x64x64 levels shall become a new art form, and I shall call it: Cubism!
Oh, wait...

In related news, I might actually start work on an entry within the next few weeks. No, wait... what am I thinking? That'll never happen! Perish the thought! :laff:

It'll be fine. There is no way a large mission like CL is ever going to get finished in a month. Anything submitted by the deadline will be by necessity quite compact!
Gestalt on 9/7/2005 at 08:31
Not sure if I'll make it or not, since my classes and (temporary) job have eaten up all my time for the last week or so and left me pretty much constantly exhausted. I'll try my best, but I've hit a bit of a slump and lost all the momentum I had going.

[Urgent]Do any of the FM archives have a place for T3 FMs yet?
If not, is there any chance that there will be by next Saturday?[/Urgent]
Most of what follows is obvious but I'll write it anyway:
The Contest finishes next Saturday (16th)
Your entries should be packaged in zip files so that when you unzip them into the T3 folder, everything goes to the right place. (If Garrettloader comes out before Saturday, follow its instructions)
So everyone knows the mission is a contest entry, rather than just a normal mission, the zip file should have SFM_ in at the beginning of its filename (for Small FM Contest).
Voting will last for another six weeks after next Saturday.
Can someone please help with how to actually submit the missions! :thumb:
