It could well be a file size thing as comparing my log to GlasWolf's the missing files are different (unless there is no set load order). Also the largest original ibt is SouthQuarter1.ibt at 38.5mb, so its possible that the limit could be near that.
with regards to vertex pools, how would I go about changing the limits? (thinking along the lines of getting GL to do so programatically).

Tried adding zeros to the vertex pool figures but the log looks exactly the same as when doubled.
I guess the key must be something Sneaksie's done to his install. Anything you can think of, SD? How does your t3main.log compare to ours?

Well, the easy question here is pottter's: to increase the vertex pool you need to change the user.ini, which hopefully hasn't been messed with before this (I don't know if minimalist does anything to it), then you just add the group:
Code:
[PCVertexPools]
;added 0 to the end of each...
DynamicVertexPool0=31457280
StaticVertexPool=26214400
StaticShadowVertexPool=15728640
If you wanted to get technical, I guess you'd have to read in the user.ini, then check the text, and if the [PCVertexPools] group is missing, add it, and if it's there, make sure the lines aren't commented out (; in front of the line) and that the values are currently either default - so get changed, or bigger, and so get left alone.
Missing different files, well as I've said, I've ran into this before, and to get around it last time required giving out about an extra 150Mb of stuff, just everything the error's listed. Somewhat not-good as you can imagine, especially since most of you have the editor. I think it's a timing problem, mostly because of the discrepancies - if you have winamp or something running as it loads it changes the missing stuff sometimes.

Interesting, I wonder then if I was to shut down everything (virus scan and firewall most likely), would it go further...
Also thanks for the vertext stuff, I will see how best to add it into GL.

in case anyone is still interested -don't download the SFM_zSchism.zip.
I'm working on a new version (with a another map in it, now we aren't under the competition restrictions, so we can experiment with the sidestep workaround, of loading a map, then loading the mission).
The new one has also had it's readme changed a bit, which might make it more GL-friendly.

Okay the new and somewhat larger side-step test is available from epithumia, at:

I know the outer level has a low frame rate, it's because of the sunlight, but by loading it first, then moving into the level properly more of you might be able to run it.

No joy here I'm afraid. The outer level loads fine but, once I've frobbed the glyph the loading sequence crashes just as before.

It is a bit of a long shot, but also it's something I've had work before as a work around.

Okay people show of hands - is it worth the effort to try make another version of this that people can run?
Thinking it over, the level can probably be simplified a bit, and rearranged to reduce the volume of odd stuff in there, which might bring the file size down and make it more likely to work. It wouldn't get that much smaller, probably, but it can be done pretty quick, and wouldn't make a huge change to the level anyway since the bits I'd be rearranging ended up being dead-ends anyway because of FleshBSP holes being caused all over the shop if they weren't.
For anyone who's examined the unr, I'd be losing the Old Council in favour or replacing it with the Infirmary, and removing the Greenhouse and upper level from the north-west. And removing the skybox I forgot I left in :o .

I haven't got it - yet. I don't really want another small FM ATM. Maybe if you post some screens I'd be tempted
