Thought I'd share my opinion as a foreigner.
I'm shocked by what I read in this thread.
People who think government influence is a bad thing? Our leaders need to be there for their citizens! They can't just stand on the sideline, only taking care of national security, and let the free market handle it.
Every youtube video I saw, linked to in this thread, is about people yelling things that to me, as a european citizen with a government taking care of health care, are disturbing.

I seem to recall someone worked out the cost/benefit ratio of smoking, in terms of "money obtained via taxes on cigs" vs "money consumed via cancer treatment etc", and it actually worked out in favour of keeping 'em smoking. [citation needed] ;)
But I accept it's a minefield of epic proportions.
Yeah, the smoking tax vs dying younger thing is... a thing.
Tis a minefield indeed.

Assuming it was luck (as opposed to me busting my ass and sacrificing years of my life and upwards of 100k for a good education) I might consider agreeing with you that it's the
least I can do. However, if you are somehow trying to insinuate that I should be forced to pay more because of my "luck," then you have completely lost me. Like I've always said...ask nicely and I might give ya a fry because this is my happy meal from my paycheck damnit:)
I'm continually amused that Thief13x tries to brag that "OMG HE WINT TO COLLEJE" as though that makes him elite or something.
I guess the standards are lower and this is impressive back at his trailer park.

lol, don't make me link to that hideous blob on your arm you call "art":p
Also, by my calculations (actually our wonderful government's) I am quite 1337 as only 20-25% of Americans have a bachelor's degree or higher (
http://quickfacts.census.gov/qfd/states/00000.html)
Seriously, that just made my day a hell of alot brighter! thx for the info RBJ
DDL on 28/8/2009 at 19:15
1 in 4 is all you need to be 1337 now?
Bear in mind that of that 25% with a bachelors degree or higher, 100% of them are on the internet, and are unimpressed.
Thief13x on 28/8/2009 at 19:21
ohhh, who's bragging now? :p

That's not true at least some of them are apparently clueless enough despite the degree to be pretty darn impressed with themselves.
