Too realistic, to the point of irritation.
It's weird that a super-real military sim like Operation Flashpoint had some of the most memorable stealth missions I've ever played, but somehow the realism breaks stealth gameplay in STALKER.

That's probably more to do with level design.

steo : You're actually right with that 5.45x39mm, that was my brain fart!
I wish the game was more realistic in terms of weapons selection, as I suggested earlier, there is funny range of various NATO weapons, many of which are quite expensive, used by western special forces. I'd appreciate more common, "third world" firearms, mostly of Russian origin. Why there isn't single AK47 - the most common assault rifle in the world - is beyond my understanding.
AN94 has been constructed with improved accuracy in mind, but due to it's rather complex stabilization mechanism it's more difficult to maintain and reliability is still disputable.
MP5 should give solid armor penetration with armor piercing 9mm, but I must admit I haven't used MP5 with armor piercing ammo much as I always jumped for the first AK74 I found. There are also MP5 variants chambered for .40SW. H&K has developed MP7 as a direct competitor to P90, but in the end I would have problems seeing such advanced and expensive submachine guns in the Zone from the abovementioned reason.
Also I don't understand why f.e. dogs can stand about dozen of 5.56 hollow points and they're just limping. Supedogs!

Well, they're mutant dogs. Everyone knows that mutants have superpowers.
