I'm trying to track down why I'm having problems connecting to TTLG these days. It is happening occasionally with one or two other sites but rarely enough to be a pain whereas here, it very often takes a few tries to load a page.
So I'm wondering whether it's happening with anyone else so I can, or not as the case may be, cross TTLG itself off the list of causes.

Nickie--
At first, I thought God just hated you. But, after trying to get a connection for around fifteen minutes yesterday, myself, I realize that yes, God does indeed hate you, but that the server seems to be in some sort of distress lately.

Thank you for that enlightening information!

There was a problem yesterday when the Internet connection dropped for around 30 minutes, but that's all.

Thank you David - I'll carry on with the list.

I've had problems three times in the last five days. Coming back a few minutes later all is OK.

I have had problems connecting to this site yesterday as well, but I had them in the past as well. In this case, at least some part of the problem is on my end of the connection, since changing the browser and operating system helped a lot.
An ancient text-only web browser called Lynx worked very reliable when run under Linux, while a somewhat older version of this browser had problems when used with Windows 98 SE. Versions of Mozilla and Firefox had troubles connecting (or, maybe, rather troubles keeping the connection up), regardless of whether I used Linux or Windows 98SE. I have tried at least three different computers (with Linux and Win98SE) and two methods of contacting the internet (modem with dial-up, and via network and broadband router) without experiencing any differences, thus it does not seem to be hardware related.
In my case, these problems begin with a request to the forums (such as viewing a page or sending my posting towards the TTLG forums). Sometimes, the request is not answered even after about one minute, and I have to re-submit the request, after which I get the appropriate reaction from the TTLG forums. This may repeat itself several times, and if I don't do anything, I will have to repeat my requests twice some time later. If I still continue to use this site, it's soon even worse, and I have to send the request three times until I get a reaction. By that time, I usually have serious problems getting anything done here at all, and I give up.
This has so far happened exclusively with the TTLG site, and I started a thread for this one or two years ago. A solution was not found so far, and neither did anyone else report this specific problem, so I'm trying to use this ancient Lynx with Linux if I want to use the TTLG pages for a prolonged time. This works almost flawless.
So, if anyone finds a way around his/her particular problem, he/she should probably just be content - sometimes, a real solution is never found. And sh*t happens, you know...

It's just happened again. Tried to get on at 16:14 (BST) with no success. Pinging ttlg.com returned "request timed out". No luck connecting to 206.135.105.20 either.
Could get onto The Circle OK, but attempts to read ttlg threads via The Circle were abortive.
At 16:20 ttlg.com forums appeared but I couldn't access any threads.
The threads became available at 16:24.
Is there anything you would like me to try the next time it happens?
David on 7/6/2008 at 16:41
The Circle and the forums are on the same server.
The server is configured to not respond to ping.

And that last one (from around 1900 BST was my doing)
