I thought it was funny too, and I laughed. And then people come back with their own stock responses to also be funny ("get out" being an ancient one; except for Zylon, whose humor stops at Monty Python shticks; but badgering newbies is a vocation of his anyway)... peppered maybe with a good dose of healthy cynicism as befits a chat forum. But it was good for a two second buh-dum-tish. And threads always bring out every attitude imaginable, so you just roll with it.

What first got my attention was the full-screen graphic before it was turned to a link, with a little message in the center, and the April Fools quality left me colder than it could've.
No, this isn't how we treat all newbies, but the first impression is kinda up to you. And as we've said in the past, "If you think this is unpleasant, you haven't seen anything yet, and this is really mild compared to the flame skirmishes that erupt around here.";)
I get the humor, the presentation killed it for me.

Are we absolutely certain this is a joke? There's enough time between the newgame screen and the first readable emails to..well, forget. I know I have in the past.
