Another thing I just thought of. Where are your speakers plugged into the, the pc itself? With some of these usb interfaces the signal is actually routed through the device, so you need to plug the speakers into the output of the zoom. May not be your problem, but its worth a try.

Try the ZOOM site. They have a Q and A section. Describe your current hookup and ask your question.
Do you have the output audio set to monitor for the earphones (which you should be using)
Why and how? I don't understand this statement about monitoring for earphones at all.
I have an earphone jack on the speaker volume control and my speakers are plugged into the earphone jack on the motherboard anyway.
I've looked at the Q and A section on the site (before I came back to post in this thread) and it's no help whatsoever.
I'm thinking of sending this back.

I feel bad now cos I was the one who recommended it wasnt I? I have had no problems with mine, and without actually being there to fiddle around with stuff, its really hard to diagnose the problem.

ok I am pretty sure this is your problem, what you need to do is plug the speaker jack into the output of the zoom device. You will need an adapter to convert it to a 1/4 jack, should be able to get these at any electronic or audio store.
So then what happens is all pc sounds get routed through the zoom and outputting to the speakers, so you can still hear wavs and mp3s etc.
This is exactly how I am running my setup right now, and its working.

Yeah, the computer speakers still work as normal when the zoom is on.
I've ordered a converting jack so I'll update when I've tried that.

Got the converter, all working now!
Great pedal, been rocking out with the ZFX backing tracks and different effects+++.
Now to learn how to use the pedal to loop so I can lay down rhythm and recreate stuff like this:

glad to hear you got it working :thumb:

Thanks for the rec (after all! ha ha).
The options are a little overwhelming as I've never had my own pedal like this before. What I'm finding particularly interesting is the way that switching patches alters the sound so much that random playing (which is what I'm doing atm to get back into it - despite a very soft touch my fingertips are a little numb now and there are many non-major chords I've forgotten/am re-learning) reveals that tracks I've heard without me every knowing what the chords were.
Example - Ugly Kid Joe's sandwich. Starts with an E. Who knew? I just never had the right effect for it (it's one of the A or B patches on the Zoom).
Planning a blues/funk/metal jam with a friend who will need to re-school me a bit. Though I'm going to have to school him on the blues scale - he's one of those indie boys who learns tracks he likes and nothing else and I'm determined to re-live the blues jams of my youth!
