I presume the only difference is less time to deactivate the emitter.

Kruglov has died to me several times before I gave up protecting him... he's got what he asked for, he should have waited somewhere out of the way until I clean out the area. This may be easier if I kill the zombies in the area before I accept the quest or I wonder, new zombies appear to make you trouble protecting him?
Curiously enough, the effects of brain control disappear once you are inside the installation - same goes for Brain scorcher. The installation itself may be protected from the psi waves, but then why are zombies inside and why new zombies appear after you turn off the transmitter ?

I suppose that once their brain goes bad, there's no turning back, even if you disable the transmitter.

That would explain the part about zombies already in the place at the time when I turn off the transmitter, but if Yantar is being repopulated by zombies each time I revisit it ?

Maybe this should be fixed in a patch. Zombies respawn before turning it off and normal soldiers start spawning after doing so.

Probably best to keep a few zombies spawning, just to keep the military on their toes. Or perhaps they could fight duty though I don't recall any other fights between them.

Good point.
And I didn't think of the possibility that there may be zombies lurking around the area that you didn't kill.

I haven't seen any soldiers in Yantar so far, not even after the Hind attack on the facility after you escape from it through the tunnel. But Duty is protecting the scientist lab from snorks and occasional zombies. Strange, Sakharov mentions he called army to clean out the area of remaining zombies, so I'd expect the army should have responsibility to protect scientists.
I have met three soldiers in Military Warehouses coming from Rostok loading point, when I was heading back after turning off the Brain Scorcher. One of them has clashed with a lone Dutyer having luck patroling on the road at that time and killed him - the derelict shed with Dutiers was just nearby. Luckily the soldiers have passed far away from the rest of Dutyers in the shed, otherwise they would exchange few slugs.
But I somehow doubt I would have a chance to see these soldiers passing through Rostok peacefully, Dutyers would terminate them easily there?

I doubt it very much that they'd go peacefully. I saw a soldier in Rostok walking near the transition from Rostok to Military Warehouse, he was dead within seconds when in sight of the Duty guards nearby.
