Confused about game path.. (spoilers) - by Saam

I don't think I am too far into the game -- was in Garbage, and I could not go into the Bar area because Duty officers are not letting me though (why is that?), so I went back south and went into that hangar area where the bandits are controlling the exit area to Agroprom and they were respawning like mad, but I made a dash for it to the next area and rescued the Mole. Afterwards, he told me to go to the basement/sewer area and I am there now.
Is this relatively the correct direction of the game? The story isn't as coherent as I would like for it to be, so I am just making sure I am not totally going the opposite 'direction', so to speak.
Thanks for any help.

I would avoid the sewer area, if I remember correctly there is a lot of radiation there.
The reason you are going there is to get into the military base to steal documents. I'd just sneak into the base by using one of the holes in the walls, take out the guard in the watch tower near the hole. The alarm will go off unless you use the knife.
Or you can play rambo; just have ammo, cover and health supplies.
As for the bar, it will be locked until you pick up the documents. After that you can talk to one of the officers by the gate and tell them that the barkeep wants a word with you.

You need to go into the sewers to find Strelock's stash, so it's a good place to go. Not too hard to get through.

If I'm correct about the radiation, the Stalker suit you get shortly after infiltrating the military base would come in handy there.

Yeah, you're on the right track - you and I aren't too far apart in our playthroughs. It helps to check out your PDA and map often to reacquaint yourself with the goals/aims as highlighted by the task list and on the map itself. It's a great size for a game environment but the downside is that slight loss of focus which requires occasional reminders about what to do / where to go etc.

That's where the PDA comes in very handy, I almost look at it every few minutes. :)

I would recommend doing the sewers under agropom anyway, since its one of the more atmospheric parts of the game.

Thanks for the replies, all. Yeah, I found my way to the Bar and there are so many quests there to pick up, I don't know which ones to do or skip!
And I must say, this is probably the scariest game I've ever played. I played a bit of the sewer in agroprom and that mutant guy that goes invisible scared the living daylights out of me... game has really good atmosphere.. a little to good.

The main reason why I started a second run through the game immediately after finishing the first one is precisely because I want to explore more of the game, and do all those side quests. On my first run I went straight after my main objective (Kill Strelok), and ignored a lot of things. For instance, I didn't do any quest for both Duty or Freedom, nor did I performed any mission for the scientists, apart from the ones I really had to.

Sewers under Agroprom ? Bah, it's just a small preparation for later locations such as Dark Valley, Yantar lab and the Brain Scorcher. :ebil:
Psi Controller has the most original attack I experienced in a game. He just "pulls your mind out of your body". Other mutants are well made too.
