EDIT : The actual question is down at the end of the post. skip the long read if you feel the need.
I've only been posting here for roughly 4 days, but my posts here have all been of the more serious kind then what i normally post.
mainly because it sure "feels" like there are more older people here, and for a big part because i'm just a big taffer who can't figure out stuff so i've been asking for a lot of troubleshooting.. (and a big thumbs up to everyone here on the forum who has tried to help me, so far i've heard nothing but constructive imput and people dedicating quite a bit of effort to help me :cheeky: )
To get to the point however (i'm a ranter, no, REALLY ) even though i've been making these posts, i've noticed that i cannot leave a post without at least one smilie, i just have to add one in there if i re-read my smilie-less post, or Worse, if i added smilies in there from the start, theres bound to be a handfull of them. i catch myself just looking down the smilie list, and actually rephrase a line at times so it fits better with one of the smilies i have at my use.
Granted, i'm much worse on the other places i post(ed) to, but if there was a talk-group for CSD (compulsive smilie disorder) i would not only be the president, i would be a member :laff:
So, as to actually have a point to this topic: (yes, FINALLY! :bored: )
Do you suffer from this as well, how bad is it, and most importantly, wich smilies are your favorites?

Naturally, this was the first thread I looked at after my sojourn in the Canaries.
Please tell me that the rest of TTLG 2007 is of a higher standard than this.

So not a Carol Smillie thread then, good.
Strictly Ice Dancing ?? wtf ?? when did this happen?

Don't let Stronts discourage your Xos, he's naturally grumpy. Now, regarding your smilies obsession I must say, there ARE, or more importantly WERE people with these problems, but generally, if they can't get into the TTLG...."Code of Conduct" (For lack of a better term), you are usually ripped to shreds.... and then the mods will eat what is left of you. Also, people will nitpick spelling and grammar problems. And Commchat really will be the roughest on you. So generally, if you REALLY don't think you can get around the smiley obsession, stick to the gaming forums....otherwise...well, you were warned buddy.

Well, expect to see at least one smilie in each post i make, but i can assure you it mostly won't exceed 3, or 5 at least. I have been giving it kind of a spin in the original post, of course.
How bad is it with people "Harrassing" others about their english ?
(For people offended about me calling it harassing, let's just call the beasty by it's name for what it's worth shall we?
I cannot vouch for this forum, but as seen on the internet as a whole, it's mostly a case of acting superior and generally being as much of an annoyance to the user of your disliking as you can then kindly telling someone that he made a mistake )
I would dare to say that my english is pretty good, though i'm sure you can find flaws in my writing here and there. things like lack of sleep don't improve it much either.
Now, if there are huge gaps in my grasp of the english language, or i botched a really bad job on a post for some reason, i'm fine with being told to fix it.
If it's just a cast of people attacking me for tiny mistakes like being butterfingers on a single keystroke, or use of slang terms i might have picked up, then i'll stick to the gaming forums.
In short : theres a diffrence between being friendly and pointing out someone's mistakes to a certain degree, or just outright being a grammar nazi.
And is it just being grumpy, or are the people here just more of the serious kind? i'll gladly take the sillyness to somewhere else if there's noone to appreciate it once in a while here.

I think 'assholes' might be the word you're looking for.

For what it's worth, Xosmi, the forum is overwhelmingly male (being a gaming forum, after all) which does contribute to a bit of machismo one-uppiness. I wouldn't say people here are more serious - it's just the style. Half the 'serious' stuff people say is actually sarcastic or some inside joke. That said, there are a fair bit of people (such as the above Stronts) who take themselves very seriously.
That said, while people may be rude, this isn't a forum where people will follow you around into different topics and attack you for using smilies. The mods don't like that. I think.
Anyway, welcome.

You honestly must have me confused with somebody else.
