My OCD comes and goes, depending on my stress levels.

Yeah. It's obviously not black and white, but that doesn't matter to those who might be negatively affected.
Of course not... my point was simply that The Alchemist doesn't need to start fearing that he is OCD necessarily. Most people begin to think they have a particular diagnosis when they see some similar symptoms in themselves, but they usually overestimate their severity or duration.

I'm a compulsive shower-taker. :erg: On a good day it'll be two or three; if I'm really nervous it's four or five. Every time I break a sweat, back into the shower I go! I'd love to trade it for compulsive neatness, then my house would be spotless... instead I'm a squeaky-clean, constantly wet person in a messy house. Come stay with me for a bit, Alchie, and do my house. :D

My vacuum broke, can you come over and vacuum my place?
The Alchemist on 14/2/2008 at 20:09
Ah well, thanks for the help! I'm glad I'm not just going nuts. Sure Follies I'll come over as long as you don't get water drops all over my clean floors. :G
And BA I charge $70 an hour for my OCD cleaning service. :)
I definitely have a lot of free time and a lot of stress (as odd as that may seem) right now, I guess I'll just fill in the gaps as well as possible.

Alc, did you grow up in a really disorganized home or something?
My house that I grew up in was (among other things) in a complete state of chaos at all other times. Of course, everyone says that for the most part but most people would have been agast at my house (even after spending like an entire day cleaning it before company). The result of which is I get feelings like you have occasionally. My problem is that I am also somewhat disorganized, but horribly irritated by it. My room Im in now used to stay really neat because I got to hate clutter, but I've lived here long enough that I have too much shit to fit in here, so every week or so I'll get into a rage and clean the shit out of it, and I wont feel good until I do.
Your condition sounds a little more pronounced than mine does, but I think alot of people have eccentricities like that. Im fairly sure mine stems from my growing up though, so I dont know if other people aquire it the same way.
