One of the last of our classic American clowns has died: the legendary Don Knotts.
His Barney Fife character should be counted among the most magnificent comic creations of the 20th century. It's easy to see why he won the Emmy award 5 times in the show's mere 8 years on the air (3 of which, when he was no longer a regular).
I also grew up watching him on one of my all-time favorite farces, "Three's Company". The opposite of the subtle, smirking genius of comedy God Norman Fell (his predecessor) since he could not have possibly been more over the top, his Ralph Furley is, nevertheless, hysterically funny.
His first movie was also one of the comedic film highlights of the 50's: "No Time for Sergeants" in which he first co-starred with frequent on-screen partner, Andy Griffith.
Never watched much of his Disney/kid's flicks so the last things I saw him in were the well acted yet cloying "Pleasantville" and on Seth Green's brilliant animated "Robot Chicken" .

Farewell, you wonderful retard. Virtually everything you were in sucked but you could bug your eyes out like no other.

Darren McGavin ("Kolchak", the dad from "A Christmas Story") has also died.

What?! Aw, shoot. RIP, man. Rats..... :(
Does anyone else get really depressed when you hear about one of the great actors you either grew up with or just recently got attached to dying? It kind of puts life into perspective, for me anyway.

One of his least known title films from long ago, was a color animation found embedded in a movie that he did in 1964'. And would have been considered "state of the art" for that decade, called; "The Incredible Mr. Limpet" (a most fitting title)
And the one of "The Ghost and Mr. Chicken" in 1966'

Eh...That's suppose to be funny:rolleyes:

RIP :(
Don Knotts as Barney was classic. I thought I had seen most everything he had played in until I (
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0461455/) checked.
The Ghost and Mr. Chicken was one of my favourite movies he did.
I always thought (
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0569000/) Darren McGavin was great. I loved his role in
A Christmas Story and
Night Stalker was a show I never missed.
