I am kind of sick of wearing the same armor again and again. If you choose light armor you'll wear nothing different than Chitin in the beginning and Glass in the end (plus maybe that LeFemm Domina armor from the official plugin). Pretty much the same goes for medium and heavy (Who has ever been wearing a set of Dwemer Armor for example? Usually Ebony is already available and the better choice.)
I was thinking of a new armorer shop (or something like taht) which has the service to combine two armors. The stats of the one armor and the looks of the other one combined into a new armor.
(Example: you like the (boiled) netch armor's look but later in the game wearing anything else than glass armor is suicide. So you bring both sets to the armorer and he reworks the Glass armor a little bit and covers it with the netch armor for the look.)
It could be done in a window similar to the enchantment window. One slot for the "stats-armor" and on slot for the "looks-armor" and you can give it a new name.
It wouldn't be unbalancing, because you'll give two armors and get only one in return. Further since it is a singleplayer only game there is nothing unfair about it and the NPCs don't care about your armor's looks or stats.
I have no experience with the Elder Scrolls Construction Set yet (the 2nd CD hasn't left the case once). Is it possible to do such a mod? And where can I get good tutorials to be able do such a mod.
Or if some experienced modder wants to do it he should feel free to do so.
I know I could probably just create my dream armor in the editor and place it somewhere, but the described mod would be more flexible and less "cheaty".

dude, i fully think thats a mad idea
ive always liked the look of the bonemould armor, but it just doesnt have the AR that i need at higher levels.
combining something like ebony armor, and the bonemould for looks would be so sweet.:thumb:
im no mod maker, but i dont think it would be that difficult to implement into the game.
food for thought anyway.

I'm dabbing a little bit into modding for my first time ever... though the scriptin is a little hard. I think your Idea is fantastic, we just need someone with the proper experiance in modding and scripting. This would require knowledge of Hex programs for new designs... and good art skills for the image. Or if you don't want the armor to 'blend' the two together, you could always just script it so that, you go to this guy with the two different type's you want, and do like you say then have the Armor for one switch to the Armor Rating of the other... it sounds quite simple, I f I knew how to script a little better in Morrowind maybe I could make it... (But unfortunetly I have absolutely no clue how to do that dialogue sheet) I find modding rather fun, perhaps in the future if no one else decides to make it, and I've gotten better with modding, I'll make it.
Though trying to understand how the dialogue works without a *GOOD* tutorial is very hard indeed. I try right clicking to add a new topic foir instance, and it comes up with;
-New
-Edit
-(info?)
I click on New, because I want to add a new topic, then I write the Topic name where it shows. I press enter... nothing happens, no new topic appears on the list... nothing. I'd have to read up on Dialogue. Anyway this Armor transfer thing sounds great.

I found a small new problem with this idea:
What about Indoril or Imperial armor? Ordinators attacking you, or Darius wanting you to be in an Imperial cuirass, when you join the Legion. That belongs to the stats (or is it an extra script?) but probably should be taken from the looks-armor.
Which different stats does armor have anyway? Weight, armor rating, ...?
I guess I'm trying to get into the editor now.

The Indoril and Imperial armor things are script controlled.

during my travels I have encountered the upsetting fact that our custom interfaces must use messagebox format only(some text and up to 10 buttons per box I think.) things like the enchanting and alchemy ui are made with tools the end user cannot possess..
quite a bummer eh? I've been attempting to "borrow" the inventory ui to perform tasks on specific objects by creating a container that has a script to access it two different ways, and separate actions depending on which way you picked. Say you pick the first path, which is "insert armor to be spraypainted"; you drop your strong armor into the container and click close, and as soon as you exit the container: nothing happens. Now you pick the second path, which is "insert armor for texture"; you drop your snazzy lookin armor into the container with the other piece of armor, and as soon as you exit the container: transfer needed information from the first item to the second item(I'm not sure exactly how to do this yet, but I'm on the case....) then drop the newly created item into the players inventory.
anybody know how to do that last part?

Thats a sweet Idea, I also want another mod that make medium armor an actual choice. The medium armors in the game arent up to par with heavy or light at all, Ive heard of adamantium but ive also heard it still doesnt make medium a smart choice.
I have no idea how to use the editor yet,(I still havent got the comp one yet but im going to) anyway great Idea someone should make it.
