I want to carry on with the question "What would LGS have done?", but it is hard to guess what original developers would have done with a title had they extra tools, and whether what they made was a complete accident.
I can't see Thief with QTEs, but I can see the option of flinging a half-sleepy half-drunken guard off a railing.

Epic Mickey. Dishonored. Mixed bag, really.

Despite EM bringing in qte events with the focus system, at least said system can be turned off or if you really must play with it, limited in the number of times it can be used.
What I would really dislike in thief 4 is a return to the walking arsenal Garrett becomes once you start collecting all the loot. Levels like return to the cathedral and the cradle really lose their fear factor when I have enough weapons to systematically destroy every, haunt, zombie and puppet upon first encounter.
Before the point is made, one can choose to not use said arsenal by artificially handicapping. But if one is prepared to do that in the original games, why not thief 4?

I think I must have played a different game

No, you did play THIEF...it's just that he's delusional.

I was wondering if I'd missed huge weapon stashes in each level or something, I mean in DS it got a bit silly once the shops were all available you could sit in a dark alley and mug everyone who came past grinding loot until you could become this walking arsenal, but that was DS, good game but not quite Thief in my opinion and the loot grinding was one of the reasons why

If I can find enough/ buy at loadout enough weapons to remove all zombies, which I can for all levels in which they are present. I consider myself a walking arsenal. Pray tell, what is delusional about that?

I must go play the bonehoard again, I've obviously been doing it wrong

Due to the addition of the fire spirit in the bonehoard there is literally an unlimited supply of fire arrows. Though most of the annoying zombies in the hexagonal tombs can be dispatched with holy water if one is prepared to play catch me and round them up first. Clearly this isn't the best way to play but it certainly makes the game easier. If thief 4 is going to include any similar areas I really hope we can't simply pull out 12 fire arrows and remove any tension.

Well, sure, you broke Thief and won. Congratulations, I guess? :D
