Yes I always find it horrifyingly fascinating in these situations that the evil psychos get their names in the history books, but most of us probably couldn't name a single of their victims.
In this case, at least, its somewhat proper. You have to remember, these kids were abused quite frequently. What happens when you kick a dog? The motherfucker bites you. Pretty much the same principle.

You can't have infamy without fame.
Also, calling them 'evil psychos' instantly makes them more historically notable than their innocent victims.

Of course they will always be known for what they did. There are ways not to let that become a fascination though. One I've seen is the way how 4chan members handle those types. (Yes, read on.) On these forums rather regularly someone announces to run amok. And the usual, completely discouraging answer is: "Yes, do it faggot, become an hero!!"
Forget their humour, CP, etc for a second. But this just works. Seeing the people laugh about wannabe killer ambitions, and still ridiculing those who went through with it, is what actually might give lil Joe a warning, that he still won't be taken serious, even if he does this.
What we basically need is a popular spoof movie on high school amok runs. And I'm not kidding here. A sort of (
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0097493/) Heathers for this decade.

Agreed. Heathers was brilliant before its time and about the only movie in which I can remotely tolerate Wynona Rider.

Shut the fuck up, AR Asster. Stop fagging up serious thread with your bullshit posts.
Anyway, this tragic event directly influenced Gus Van Sant's Elephant. Lovely little film that.
Columbine also marked Marilyn Manson's downward spiral into a non-entity that spews out truly garbage records every couple years.
