Vodka elitism is about the most worthless pursuit ever.

[...] I don't really see how it's possible to have a particularly flavourful vodka unless you're talking Absolut mixed products.
Different brands of Vodka have their own distinct flavors. Not Absolut flavors. The different distilleries produce Vodka with a flavor unique to each. Just as Tequila varies by process and ingredients.
Straight, each high quality Vodka will give you a different taste. All the cheapo stuff tastes like crap. But the better brands do have individuall flavors, subtle but there if you take the time to savor it and don't just slug it down.

The vagueries of distillation may create differing flavours, but as (

I think we can all agree though that there is a gulf of difference between cheapo generic vodka and a well produced vodka (true of any alcohol, or anything ever, really), but after that the differences are beyond academic.

I wanna know where the hell Shug is getting $18 bottles of vodka. And can you send me over a case?
Scots Taffer on 6/8/2007 at 08:18
Huh? Pretty sure your bog-standard bottlo has a couple of cheap and nasties at around that price. :erg:

Regency Vodka, pig... mind you that was about 5 years ago, and it appears to now be selling at a premium of AU$27 a bottle :(

everything in Perth is hideously expensive because of 'transport costs'. Even a bottle of Vat69 costs around $28.

To true, but even more pure alcohol with less taste is
Everclear which is nearly 200 proof. Sadly, in California it's no longer to be had. It was perfect for spiking the punch at any party. 1 Gallon jugs were only 5 to 8 bucks (dollars) each.
