When I come to the woman what has the code book she said she cant talk to me about it, I joined the thieves guild and she says something but still wont give me the book. Should I become thief apprentice b4 she gives it to me or there is something else I need to do?What thieving skills should I have to be thief apprentice?
How to pickpocket? I sneak up, I click, I see their inventory but there is nothing in it and when I leave that screen the guy I was trying to pick pocket attacks me.

there is no such thing as a apprentice just a toad wich you always are once you join
a wet ear all you need to do is get marksman acrobatics short balde sneak light armor or security at 10
Footpad and get one of the skills listed above to 20
blackcap one of the skills listed above to 30 and two others to 5
operative one of the skills listed above to 40 and two others to 10
a bandit agility31 personality31 one of the skills listed above to 50 and two other skills to 15
captain agility and personality to 32 one skill listed above to 60 and two others to 20
ringleader agilitiy and personality to 33 one skill listed above to 70 and two others to 25
mastermind Agil and Pers to 34 and one skill listed above to 80 and two others to 30
master thief Agil and Pers to 34 and one skill listed above to 90 and two thers to 35
altough i have the skill requirements to get to master thief it wont let me get any higher in rank complete more quests perhaps?

you don't have to join the theive's guild to get the codebook from the lady... all you have to do is either bribe or admire her till she likes you.... if your speechcraft isn't that good, yow can just easily bribe her... (thats how my stupid barbarian got the book)

I'm having a problum in this quest too. i bribed her untill she like me 100% but she still wont give it to me. Is it because i accedentually joined the Theves guild? is the any way to quite a guild? Or do I just have to kill her?

Having the same problem also. Bribed to 100/100 and nothing. Still repeats what she always said about book. My sneak skill is 7 and I have no way of stealing it from her and when I kill her I go to jail with 1000+ bounty. Is the something else I should be trying here. BTW, I am playing the Xbox version of the game. Getting pissed and wish I bought it for the computer. I also sent a bug report into Bethesda, but it may have been a little premature.
Any help is appreciated.

After I tried everything I decided to kill her. I got only 25 bounty and no jail. Do this: become invisible, come behind her and pickpocket her, you will fail and she will attack you, kill her and get the code book. Thats it, you will be expelled from theif guild tho

Ok, found another way. Restored an earlier save before I joined thieves guild and bribed her to 100/100 then she gave me the book. Must be a bug that won't allow you to get book this way after you join thieves guild or maybe your not supposed to be able to?

I bribed her to 100 coz my speechcraft aint high and she still woudlnt give me the book so I killed her, I hope I aint going to need her after.
