Just started playing for the first time and met up with the guy who lost his axe to the witch. Anyway, I went and talked to her and sided with ehr and he starts attacking. Now, I think I can easily take him but he keeps knocking me down. What's the best tactic against this guy?

That depends entirely on what kind of a character you have. Arrows from afar? Axe to the head? Levitate and blast him with magical fire? Different things work for different characters.
(But remember that you can use restore fatigue potions to somewhat counteract him punching your face in ;)

I'm a warrior with lots of armor on, and still am getting my backside dropped. How about any techniques with him?

I thought warriors only used one technique: hit 'em 'till they drop. ;) If you just can't beat him, maybe you just need some more training...

If you have decent alchemy then there is lots of saltrice and other ingredients you can make restore fatigue potions from. Also there is a ashlander camp about 4 exteriors to the west and they will probably sell you restore fatigue potions. Hand-to-hand only does damage when you have no fatigue and get knocked unconscience.

The problem with this guys is that he beats you with his bare fists, which means that he's knocking the fatigue right out of you, then he starts hitting for damage.
You need to keep your fatigue up while trying to bash in his skull. I recommend lots and lots of really large restore fatigue potions.

i agree with madphilb. i always carry about 10-15 positions of restore fatigue and restore health. as well as some retore strength, speed, ect.
p.s. you should also probably get some training. if he can knock you down before you can kill him then your skill in whatever weapon you are using really needs some help.
