8-10 bandages? What difficulty is this?
Even though I ran out of them fairly regularly at the start I can't recall needing more than two for any given bout of bleeding.

I always play on "Stalker" difficulty.
um, if i use a texture pack, do you think this will break the wet surfaces (might be the reason i've never seen them, since i use a texture pack that i really like)?
Also, does anyone know how the patches works, does the latest patch contain the previous fixes, or do you always need to install all of the patches (i only patch with the latest one since it doesnt complain about needing a previous one, if this is wrong then i guess i know the reason why my game always seems too unbalanced/fucked up to enjoy hehe).
Redux is just retarded (played some more now).. monsters takes down 50 of your health in one "hit" (+ you will bleed and you wont have bandages to fix it since finding even 1 bandage can take 2 hour of game time), weapons hardly do any damage at all (a full magazine from just about any weapon usually wont kill it). Getting attacked by 3-4 monsters means you'd have to reload at least 4 times and get perfect shots, problem is while you're reloading the first time you're dead since you can't reload and use a medkit to fix the damage the monsters will do to you while reloading + weapons will also stop functioning every now and then. And spending maybe 4 medkits in a fight + ammo is VERY expensive and will set you back a lot, just to fight a mob of monsters (that doesnt have any valuable loot), clearly you will just reload and try your best to avoid them. What's the point of even having monsters if you have to reload the game every time you see a pack, it doesnt add anything to the game except frustration.
The mod would've made at least some sense if you could run really fast to take cover from monsters (since there's no way in hell you can take down 4 monsters in a close encounter with them), this could've made the game a bit atmospheric i guess, being hunted is always a adrenaline rush. I can really understand why this modder quit after people made complaints.. Avoid this mod like the plague.

It must be it.

Just 2-3.... until you find an anti-bleeding artifact, there are plenty of them in the game, and they stop bleeding with lightning speed.

Yes.

the bandages thing must've been a bug i had then because 2-3 didn't do anything for me, always used medkit + bandages which didn't work in the long run because i ran out.
i'll probably reinstall the game again and give it anoter shot after next patch or so and i'll try my best to not install any mods that screws up the game even more hehe

Bump. Any cool mods out for this yet? I much preferred Oblivion Lost to vanilla SoC, so is there anything interesting out for me yet?

You know, that is my experience with vanilla Clear Sky. I will be bald when I'm done with Red Forest. It makes no damn sense how quickly heavily armored stalkers armed with powerful guns get taken out so quickly by a few mutants. I had to lead a group of them to some destination, we met a pack of snorks and the entire group was dead within seconds. And the morons didn't even have the common sense to run away or allow me to get a clear shot. I fucking hate these 'protect group' assignments.

These "Protect missions" are surely what i hate the most in any game/genre i've ever played.
Makes you wonder when they will design smart enough AI not to get right in your way when it comes to escort them.
Bjossi on 2/12/2008 at 17:16
It will never happen at this rate. :erg:
Anyway, I got through Red Forest. I decided to not bother with the mutants and just run like hell into the space anomaly. I found my first artifact near the transition point to Military Warehouses with the help of the Veles detector.

You found your first artifact in Red Forest?
Bjossi on 2/12/2008 at 18:39
Yes. It's the first one I grabbed, actually, I had found many others but not found any good way of surviving the radiation/anomaly fields. The game doesn't exactly throw bandages and anti-rads at you.
