I need some help locating things in Clear Sky.
Is there a sniper rifle at the train wreck in the north of the swamp?
Where is an artifact? I think there is a jellyfish somewhere in the swamp.
How does the artifact detector work?

Yes. it's in the place that is shown in the into movie.

There are many artifacts. Every "anomaly field" contains at least one. There is also a map of all anomaly fields in the swamps hanging on the wall on the ground floor of the building in which you start the game. But it's not really necessary because the anomaly fields are very noticeable.

The first detector indicates the presence of an artifact by beeping. You must equip it first, the more frequent are beeps the closer you are to the artifact, when you come close to it enough, the artifact becomes visible.

default key is on "o" if I remember correctly, use the bolt (6) to uncover the range of an anomaly and use the detector (o) to find the location of the artifact. later detector models show you additional direction or even the exact location. if you search thoroughly in the swamp you can find the best detector
hidden in a small cave behind a blanket in the northeast of the map, near the traintracks/broken bridge

Thanks for the replies. I'll check it out.
New question .... Where are the saved games?
I tracked them down to a folder called: c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\STALKER-STCS\savedgames by using the search function ... but I can't seem to get past the folder called Documents. So how do I make copies of my saved games?

None of the wire fences show up in the Swamp level. Only the fence posts show.
Is there a fix for this?

aehm, it finds the files but you CANNOT browse to the folder ?
your description sounds like Vista or Win7, so if you find them, why not just grab them right there out of the resultwindow and drop them on the desktop or folder of your choice.

I'm running XP. So why can't I see past the "Documents" level in Windows Explorer?
Your method would be easy right now with only a few saves. But later when there are dozens and dozens of saves with various names it won't be so easy.

If you want you can change the default path of the user data folder to whatever you want by editing the path written in the first line of fsgame.ltx (which is located in the root folder where you installed the game). I chose to move the user data folder to the main game folder, my preferred path looks like this: D:\Games\GSC Game World\STALKER Clear Sky\playerdata\
Of course after you edit the path you have to move the user data folder to its new location, and rename it if you chose a new name for it like I did. Whatever the reason is why you can't access the Documents folder, the move can be done in command-line so it isn't a huge obstacle.
