You've got my sympathy. Keep that in mind while I'm dismembering you.

Hopefully there will be someone who will figure out how to run DX10 on windows xp for this game. With xp there's a lot of configurable features.

First that somebody will need to figure out a way to get DX10 up and running on XP.

I think he means getting the DX10-exclusive features to run under DX9. It worked a treat with Crysis, apparently. Doesn't mean it'll work here, though.

Someone already figured out a way of running DX10 under XP.

I think the only DX10 "Exclusive" features are wet surfaces and volumetric smoke. The wet surfaces I wasn't too impressed and I didn't even DARE the volumetric smoke. Everything with the word volumentric in it got turned right off.
Further the DX10 renderer ended up running slower for me and gave weird graphical glitches, so I'm sticking with the DX9 renderer.
For the record my specs are:
Intel Core Duo clocked at... I think I've got it around 2.1ish
2 Gigs Ram
GeForce 8800 GTS, with some piddling amount of Vram, like 320 (I had a weak ass monitor at the time and was low on cash, so the Vram got the axe)
Vista SP1

How well does it run for you, Hidden? Your system is probably a bit slower than mine: I've got an E6600 at 2.4GHz (I think), 4 Gigs of memory and an 8800GT (soon to be replaced by a GTX 260, most likely), so your experiences with the game would give me an indication of what to expect.

I think will never be DX10 for XP.
(

Alky Project said earlier it works already, several knowledgeable people tried it, it didn't work.

It runs fine at pretty much SoC max details. Like I said I use DX9, DX10 was kinda slow, playable just a little laggy, but it also had some weird graphic glitches so it got the axe.
Basically I'm running it at 1680x1050, in the enhanced full-dynamic mode, with max SoC settings plus things like sun detail up and god rays on medium, as well as those fancy bump mapping options. It runs very playably, I haven't actually looked at the FPS, cause doing that with games that I otherwise find playable tends to drive me insane trying to maximize the frames, but at a guess I'd say it's probably hovering around 40 FPS?
What would really help me out is a new video card with more RAM, like I mentioned before when I bought this computer my monitor was pretty trashy, so I didn't imagine running games at more than like, 1024x768, but then I got a nice new monitor for my birthday and it's native resolution is right up there, so naturally that becomes a priority.
Further I feel like the DX10 stuff is something that could be worked out with a patch, specifically a NVidia side one. Interestingly when I first got SoC it really did not run well, specifically at max resolution. I actually had to drop it it fairly low. I ended up playing through the full game like that. A few months later, after a couple video card patches I booted up SoC again just to play a bit and noticed that it was running WAAAY better than I remembered. I tried upping the reso and it was still very playable, better than the lower settings on my first playthrough. I'd say after all was said and done I must have gotten at LEAST a 50% performance increase, just through path optimization. So, I'm still a little hopeful that lightning can strike twice, either from a patch from GSC or NVidia.

Well I just installed the V 1.5.04 patch and I don't know what they did but I can now enable a whole bunch of options I thought were Dx10 that I previously couldn't, including steep parallax and god rays, and I'm on windows xp!
to bad I have to start from the beginning, but my game would crash after loading from saves in the city past the bridge
