This sentence is just
bad.
At the same time official stalker site with Clear Sky on Steam news states "early 2008".

By the way, "A group of stalkers has, for the first time, reached the very heart of the Zone-Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant-and brings about a cataclysm on the brink of a catastrophe."
Isn't that in the conflict with original story?
No. That group of stalkers is probably Strelok's group.
Koki on 25/1/2008 at 22:32
Yeah, but the Zone already exists with Brain Scorcher set up when Strelok starts rollin'. So I really fail to see what kind of "catastrophe" could he cause.
Even if by catastrophe they mean the second Blowout, it still has nothing to do with Strelok(or anybody else), it's just C-C trying to fix things up.

since it's no Valve game I can't imagine that installing steam is mandatory.
There have been 3rd party games that have required Steam's installation, SiN: Emergence and Lost Planet come to mind.

i played lost planet and it didn't need steam.
you are right about sin though. we'll see. I have no troubles with steam. but in the case of STALKER, I want my shiny big radioactive Clear Sky box.

Nice, I liked SHOC menu screen + menu music very much too.
Bjossi on 28/1/2008 at 09:19
The music was very dark and moody, perfect to switch my brain to STALKER mode. :p

the new menue:
Widescreen a requirement? :p
There's... uh. There's a minigun lying there. Minigun.
I guess I can throw my hopes that the game will be less... militaristic out of the window.
mothra on 28/1/2008 at 11:05
widescreen a requirement, tsts, they just wanna show off :cheeky:
I suggest reading this thread or the news posts, clear sky will definitely be more militaristic in that you can join a faction and lead it to victory. I think that minigun will come in handy in those situations :)
but like SOC i think it will be 100% possible to circumvent or just leave the factions alone at all. in some dev interviews it was hinted at that you DON'T have to work for a certain faction, if you balance the missions out, you can stay "neutral" or whatever. but they wanna tell a story, too, so maybe there will be a few things you can't decide.
