Wouldn't that be fantastic? The world could use more Valves.
Yeah I would really like, if not full localized audio, at least a subtitle option for incidental audio, and maybe even signs, like Bioshock had. I liked the sense of place having everything in Russian gave, but I also missed out of the ambiance being able to understand things gives. When every piece of background dialogue is basically gibberish because it's in an alien tongue, and all the meaning from signs is from inferrence based on where they are located they may as well not be there. It kinda takes something out of the game to have to go online and read a kinda shaky translations of the various bits of dialogue the stalkers can say to one another. Not only is any of the actual novelty of the moment removed, but it actually becomes a case of you going "oh, this one" based on what it sounds like, meaning that it can never even feel fresh again.

I take it this means they are going to do full localisation? That ought to please Dave and others who got sick of reading (actually maybe it doesn't mean that. They might just be translating all the AI barks as well this time.
I don't think so. It'll probably be just translated critical path speech, same as in SHOC. With a game as dialogue heavy as these, having fully translated speech in just Russian and English would take a fairly absurd amount of space. And pressing seperate SKUs (English Only, Russian Only, Whatever other languages) is probably more expensive than they can afford, what with the self-publishing.

this is my top anticipated game for early 2008. assassins creed on pc pretty much disappeared for me and the latest news about the new features and tweaks have me dreaming of shaking to the bone while slowly creeping thru an anomaly field, detector in one, pistol in the other hand, hearing the grunts and shrieks of approaching monsters..... :D
Call me crazy, but I'm not a big fan of approaching monsters when I only have a pistol handy. :erg:

I like the idea because it can hopefully make all those tons of different pistols actually useful. In Shadow of Chernobyl there's no point in even keeping a pistol once you have a nice gun.
By the way, agreed, Clear Sky is my most anticipated game as well. Out of the entire year in fact.

Errr, I always carried a pistol with me. No sense in wasting good ammo on dogs/vermin/boars/pigs and even normal bandints when you get USP.

Yeah i always had a pistol, its so easy to be out of ammo with the guns, pistol ammo is never a problem though.

Plus its kinda fun packing away your super-deadly highpower endgame weapons for a change and just spamming away with a lousy pistol at some low-danger targets. "Ah those where the days when i hopped around on a roof for merc armor, wouldnt you agree dead bandit?" Pew pew pew :cheeky:

That reminds me, gotta finish the game using only PMm.

You'll be able to melt metal on your forehead before long. . .
