I don't have much against Stalker right now. It's like GTA3; it's fairly plain they could have put all the features in the game from Vice City or even more right from the very beginning, but they didn't. They went for the simpler version first, for whatever reason, and came back with the more complex one soon after. Clear Sky does seem more interested in human combat though, which gives me pause. If it's roughly the same 'density' as the first but with the extra ability to boot those bandits out of their spot for good I'll be pretty happy.
I would like a game that's like the book though; say you live outside the Zone and you have to get jobs from scientists or whoever and then sneak in there and get things. As you progress you have to go further and further in on longer journeys and sometimes get help. There's not much in there, survival wise. Maybe a stalker camp or two You can scavenge a bit from other stalkers alive and dead. But mostly civilisation is only outside the Zone. You have to manage supplies, go on probing missions and lay in stashes for the return journey. The kind of things old explorers had to do. Eventually, after you've got enough money and experience (I don't mean XP) you'll have to stay in there for a couple of days at a time and you venture further and further in etc.
That would be cool I reckon. Not Clear Sky though. Maybe they do a prequel prequel like that.

Id be happy with bigger "Zones" (keke) for a start. Somewhat like they planned Prypiat to be, less impassable fences and transition points. Along the lines of Cordon and the Garbage combined (if thats possible, heck im no coder or whateva), if you play the game long enough the confines are all too apparent.
Its still possible that theres gonna be a roadside picnic-ish Stalker. You got Clear Sky, the first one in the timeline, centered around faction wars where everyone is fighting over the newly discovered new land of rubel-plastered streets. Then SoC where everythings abit more settled. Then they could say the best ending from SoC was a monolith trick too and make a third one where the Zone is picked clean (except for some really nasty places) and deserted and only the most hardy remain. They could name it "Stalker III : The Search for Strelok"

Little hope for ENG version I guess... :erg: but then Stalker has many local online communities.

No news on (

It reminds me though that I have yet to install Vista and finish my current SoC play-through.

Yep, it seems only 4 days to go, at least for russian version. :sly: It's almost here :D
PS: Well, it's in Russia only actually (different publisher), here in Ukraine it's still scheduled on 29.8 :nono:

So, the country whose studio made it will actually get it later? Sucks.

Different publishers, GSC World (ironic, isn't it? :) ) Publishing itself here, and 1S in Russia, don't know why they will get it sooner.

The statement appeared on the official site:
Aug,22 - Russia and CIS countries; Aug,29 - Ukraine; Sep,5 - rest of the world.
So it seems Deep Silver drew back date of the world release

September 5th? That's frustrating, I was hoping to get at least a weekend or so of playtime in before school started again. Oh well, the first bit of September is always a write-off anyway...
