I draw my +5 Sundering AK-47 of Lightning.
I understand it's an RPG, but come on, that just seems over the top. Now, if this involved research and then combining artifacts with weapons (like the Gauss gun) with side effects then I'd understand, but on its own it's just weird.
Good gun smiths can make drastical changes to any weapons. So I think gun mods like -20% to weight are quite plausible. For example you can make AK47 lighter by simply using a different receiver in real life. I bet there will be mods that use artifact powers too (like that unique shotgun in SoC).

Yeah, but
-Good gunsmiths are unlikely to be found with all their tools in the Zone, and
-those effects are still really strange. Halving the recoil, in addition to those others?

It's a game after all, remember how the City changed in T2 in comparison with T1? ;)
However I wouldn't be glad if the setting in CS drifted too much to cheerful side.
If you look at the videos, the game definitely doesn't look too cheerful. We're not talking about the change in visual style from
Diablo 2 to
Diablo 3 (whatever you think about the change, it's clearly bigger). Unless they made the
Clear Sky vids darker on purpose, I don't think we have much of a reason for worry.

So CLEAR SKY is a FACTION? That's new to me.

Dude, those are the people who made a silencer which works on ALL calibers. They're gunsmith gods.

Wasn't there a special shotgun in STALKER with reduced recoil? I think the description said it had a fragments of Gravi modded into it.
That would actually be a pretty cool way to do it - modding weapons(Or hell, even bullets!) with artifacts.
But with the way GSC operates, it will be just "Bring me a steel pipe and a piece of rubber for +20% firepower" idiocy.
Goddamn I'm raging so hard at STALKER every time when I think about the potential it had.

Koki: Did you enjoy what was there, though, or weren't you able to enjoy it because of everything that wasn't there?

I have to disagree again. Probably the world's largest gun smithery is in Pakistan. I've seen footage of that place and most work is done in simple shops without any hi-tech tools. And since zone has very good market for guns and other gear someone will fill that niche. I agree however that some effects are overdone.
But we should still be happy that these gun mods exist in the game as this will surely give modders a nice new playground :thumb:.

Then if IGN isn't exaggerating, it's a significant change. Hopefully they explain it enough in CS.
Don't worry about it being too cheerful:

(Well, some of the rain-soaked pics from the DX10 version made me shiver! :p)
