Koki, it was known when they started to do CS. it's a prequel, it covers the time when the Zone was less contaminated and decayed. Even the title itself suggests that.

:laff: Poor Koki.

I wonder however how many years back from SoC the Clear Sky events happen, because the environmental status of CEZ is based on developers' photos and visits to the Zone in 2004-2006 or so, right? And the second NPP accident happened, if I remember, in April 2008? Buildings in Chernobyl Exclusion Zone don't look exactly habitable even today, they should be even less habitable by SoC which happens in 2012. I just worry about some consistency. The sky was perfectly normal in SoC as well as flora - well, for CEZ standards anyway.

I think it's supposed to be happening around one year before Shadow of Chernobyl. Can't remember where I read it though.

Then if IGN isn't exaggerating, it's a significant change. Hopefully they explain it enough in CS.

It's a game after all, remember how the City changed in T2 in comparison with T1? ;)
However I wouldn't be glad if the setting in CS drifted too much to cheerful side.

Yes, such significant change in one year bugged me too. But keeping consistency is even more difficult with prequels.

The part that bothers me is this: you get the feeling that things are much more structured in Clear Sky's world. I love how diversified and not structured almost all in SoC feel. What I hate is "lets take this and repeat NN times" approach, f.e. objectives and cities in Assassin's Creed, or loot requirements in Deadly Shadows.

After a few successful raids on Renegade positions I was able to afford numerous upgrades for my pistol, including +4 to the magazine size, -50% recoil, +25% rate of fire, -20% weight, and +40% accuracy.
I draw my +5 Sundering AK-47 of Lightning.
I understand it's an RPG, but come on, that just seems over the top. Now, if this involved research and then combining artifacts with weapons (like the Gauss gun) with side effects then I'd understand, but on its own it's just weird.

There prolly will be some tweaking and on higher difficulties stuff prolly will be less bountiful like its in SoC.
If not i trust mod makers to make things right for all the vets who like their Zone to spank them something fierce ;)
