New teaser video called
(
http://files.gsc-game.com/st/cs/CS_athmosphere_realism_detail.zip) The Zone World: atmosphere, authenticity, detailing. (~90mb)
There is a comparison between real photos and game rendering. The best vid of them all currently, IMO.
PS: It's the same file as in mothra's post above.

Only 17£. I sure hope retailers in my country wont put up ridiculous prices (which they will do).

I have 50gb free on my hd, so that's where additional vista partition will go, especially tailor-made (meaning all things vista/aero removed) for playing STALKER Clear Sky on DX10.
How easy it is to have dual boot with XP and most simple version of Vista?

If they do, then you can always try to order it online. That's what I usually do anyway.

well, i use nlite to slipstream vista install dvds. it is not only useful for adding service packs but to REMOVE many extraneous services and programs as well without breaking windows. then I just use a few of the online "strip-vista" tutorials, basically making it look like windows NT and turning off everything you don't need for gaming. and installing vista over xp is much easier than the other way around. you just get a bootoption upon startup. only thing is that you must have unpartitioned space free on your primary HD.

Since I'm buying a whole new machine, I think I'll just go with Vista from the start.
mothra on 4/7/2008 at 21:37
i would never recommend using vista for all of your needs, especially older games will run much worse under it (maybe they won't run at all). I plan to use vista ONLY for special dx10 games, rest dx9 under xp until the new windows comes out (that hopefully won't suck). actually I sure will play CS under dx9/xp first because I expect bugs and need for a post-release patch just like with SOC

Won't removing Aero(Which uses hardware acceleration) and using the old looks(Which is a good ol' software mode Explorer) only slow things down?
