Boiling Point was ok, somewhat like GTA in the jungle. However the actually pretty big world became rather small fast after i drove the same roads like two hundred times to get around between the quest givers and the quest locations.
After a while it just became boring. Drive there, kill/get, get ambushed by [faction], race away from [faction] helicopters, kill [faction] members (theres a rep system, do quests for one, get hated by others) on the side of the road while the same annoying Action-sequence samba-ish music track plays for the umpteenth time (doot dot-dot doot dot-dot doodle doodle AAAAAGRHG), get reward, drive to town (insert enemy [faction] trouble like above) to sell stuff, drive to another quest guy (insert enemy [faction] trouble like above) repeat.
Uh.
Yeah time for Clear Sky to finally come around huh :laff:

It didnt deserve the 40%-range reviews imo, B.P had its problem (i never had any crashes, but had a irritating graphical bug when flying).. It was more fun than most FPS's and at least these guys tried something different which is extremely unusual for the genre.

Yeah, it has amazing kung-fu "starts raining" and "stops raining" action!
And scheduled too, it rains every day at same time, to the minute.
But it's still better than eternal sun/moonshine.

And that's "proper" weather to you? Sheesh, there's nothing special about a scheduled particle emitter. VtM: Bloodlines did that four years ago. Probably lots of other games have done it too.

Well I definitely got the impression Koki was being sarcastic...

I hope so.
Also Zylon the shader effects of things getting wet, puddles forming, and rain water streaking down vertical surfaces, then drying up realistically after the rain stops is what is noteworthy. You're being intentionally dense.

Bloodlines had weather? I didn't notice, since it was... well, dark and rainy all the time.
Rogue Keeper on 24/4/2008 at 07:53
Indeed there was rain, but I remember it only in Santa Monica. But the weather cycle wasn't as irritating as in Stalker and Oblivion... probably because it was night all the time.

weather cycle is one of my most beloved features of STALKER !!!!!
those new DX10 - water effects in the trailer (water streaming down surfaces) and fog are mighty impressive !!!! do DeusEx3 on the X-ray engine please :)
I always wanted to play a game where Kurosawa-like heavy rains are present and ClearSky looks like the one. I think I will break my self-imposed Vista-abstinence for this game rather than crysis.
Rogue Keeper on 24/4/2008 at 11:20
To impose Vista Hell upon myself for few stupid water streams... well, to each his own I guess.
