That tech looks pretty sharp. But it's DX10... considering that STALKER chugs on its DX9 codepath alone, I'm highly doubtful that current mainstream cards can process all that stuff without sending the frame-rate tumbling.
Any folks got any ideas if those features are DX10-only? It'd be a shame to play a slideshow a la Crysis to get it look that good.

Except water streaming down and soft water, I fail to see how all the features are unavailable in DX9.
BTW it just occured to me STALKER is only FPS with "proper" weather.

So when do they plan to release patch 1.1? I hope it will be before Clear Sky.
After :p

AFAIK, volumetric light and drying(after raining)/wet(during raining) surfaces effects will be present only in DX10 version.

Well most DX10 features in Crysis were easily enabled on DX9 render. I wouldn't be surprised if the talented modders and coders of Stalker community will find some kind of trick ;).
I have DX10 card (8800GT) but I just don't want to upgrade to Vista just to get the DX10 goodies :nono:.

Hey, thanks for the update, dude. :thumb: It's too bad volumetric lighting didn't make it for DX9, 'cause it looks stunning. But that's the price of progress, I guess. I'm still looking forward to getting this.

Yeah, it has amazing kung-fu "starts raining" and "stops raining" action!

..and the only FPS with unscripted day/night cycles (with unscripted i mean that it doesnt work like in other shooters - where a certain level always takes place at night or in day) + its the only FPS i know of with NPC schedules (sleep/eat etc). This really gives much, much better immersion than other FPS games, and (one) the reasons why i love STALKER.
I really hate that all other companies seems to refuse to take FPS-games to this "next" level, i mean games like BioShock are miles beyond this.
EDIT: just remembered that Boling Point has at least weather and day/night cycles, an extremely underrated game, even surpases STALKER in the sense that it has no loading zones.. im really looking forward to the successor..

Boiling Point is not an underrated game. If a game is completely unplayable, it's pretty fucking hard to care about the content. I tried it last year and it would a) Crash my computer if I quit from the main menu, b) crash my computer if I looked around once ingame, c) crashed my computer if I tried to do anything...
I never left the street corner you spawn on at the beginning of the game. The only PC game I've played to a remotely close level of non-functionality is Big Rigs: Over The Road Racing.
