Yes...meaning the nature of the construction of the virtual universe itself...with its own uniquely simulated physics, meta-physics, and planes of existence.
Are you bringing up the "no supernatural stuff in nuThief" argument again? Hell, hasn't that been proven otherwise yet? They have supernatural crap in there. Glowy Keeper glyphs. Old dudes in robes making special effects happen. A pub named after Burricks. Some things that looks like fast zombies all doing the fast zombie shuffle in a cave. They've even got the goddamn haunted cathedral labeled prominently on a map. Stylistically it's different, but it's all but obvious by this point that the game is leveraging the original three pretty heavily.
"...but...but...
the factions aren't there".
Yeah, they are. They're just not front and center anymore. We've seen an entire level that takes place in the Keeper Library. We've seen books and jewelry that have the Mechanist symbol emblazoned on them. We've seen Hammerite statues. We'll probably see some Pagan crap, too. Just because the plot for the new game has them chased out of the city doesn't mean they've been reconned out of the fiction entirely.
So...there you go.

And with that, I officially quit Thief. (I just want to play a game, not find a f*&^ing religion)
Feel free to hang around though, and continue to wax poetical on the finer points of why you love Thief, and how your experience affects your current perception of NuThief.
Its not our fault that NuThief is gonna put a diaper on you and spank you on your butt when you try to be creative and get caught exploring. We were just pointing out how they seemed to be screwing our beloved series!
May I now dance around the fire of contextual gameplay as the flames get higher and higher, while the dream sinks deeper and deeper into bogs of mediocrity?
:bored:

I guess the pressure of understanding classic RPGs was too much for him.

I think it was more to do with not being able to have any free form control over Garretts movement through the game world, multiplied by the implied lack of actual player skill and dare I say intellect. Even considering Q's weighty contributions to the talks on Thief over the years, it proved too much, too late. I recommend a return trip to The Cloister. Cleanse thyself and be reborn. Mwahaha.

Eh. Some white lightning and a few games of Dark Souls 2 (EXACTLY ONE MONTH AWAY OMG OMG OLOL SQUEAL) will be enough for him, I think.
Or if most everyone up in GenGaming thinks it's alright, he'll probably play it. I know that's what's what I'm waiting for

This is Hell, isn't it? I've died and gone to Hell.
(... and it's mostly like a bad Renaissance Festival.)
Renzatic on 12/2/2014 at 04:20
I think Hell would have more reasonable debates.
