I had always thought it would be more neat and realistic to try and remodel SS1 in the style of SS2 instead of try to remodel SS2 or Half-Life 1 or etc. to SS1.
It would make a lot of drastic changes to SS1's style (instead of removing security levels, the cameras would be like in SS2 and you'd be able to hack panels, there'd be no cyberspace, etc.), but it would be fun and more possible to do

You also seem to forget, that SS1 is the better game ;D

Right, but that doesn't mean a SS1.5 would be a bad thing. It would just be different, and it would remove a lot of problem people are seeming to have with getting modelers and animators and programmers and such.
The interest in System Shock 1 is far less then System Shock 2 and I just don't see an attempt to completely recreate a game as detailed and massive as SS1 as possible.
Building it with all available SS2 assets would be far more possible, you could even likely reuse the textures from SS1 (but I think it would be neat to see them rendered SS2 style). You just need to build the levels and place everything, but I imagine theres a few moments in the game that will need to be altered slightly because of this (like using rocket skates on that curved ramp).

I think that around 75% of it is do-able. How the interface, or hacking screens could be done is beyond me though. I`d be happy with even a 75% done SS1 conversion either way. And you really need the security levels as its a big gameplay aspect of SS1.

We have the wire puzzles (mostly) working already, though the artwork for them could probably be improved.

My idea is that it would be SS1 converted to SS2. It isn't SS1, it's SS1.5.

I'm ignoring the necromancy warning :sly:
Say, is there anything new to report of this project? Just stumbled on the trailer on youtube but I guess the project has been erm discontinued already?
The thing is I think the idea is awesome and it's quite cool to see that the medical level seems to have already been restored to some degree.
When I searched for the Citadel Conversion project on google I found nothing useful, except some forum and the link to the official forum from this thread here lead me into nowhere. So...?
