I know nothing but from what I understood its totally possible to mount the camera, the problem was an overlay thing where you couldn't have a little window superimposed on the main player view...it'd have to be full screen and you couldn't move at the same time because you'd be in some camera viewing mode.

I'm guessing this is another dark engine limitation and not a PC issue? Well....if by some chance this is doeable at a framerate that is passable i'd say go for it cuz that sounds awesome.

Exactly.
Regarding replacing all the texture with greyscale... well, it would be quite possible (if insanely complicated) for object textures. It would be even more difficult for brush textures, as they all need to be loaded, etc., so every map would need to be set up to support it.
Another idea I had for night vision earlier:

One idea, but it doesn't help much and is really hard on your eyes. The simplest way to test it: go into game mode and then back to the editor, bearing in mind ShockEd doesn't understand 'set game_mode_backup 1'. Find the 'compass HUD' that has autmatically been created with the player object. Add Shape->Model Name: 'Stupid'.
Set up Renderer->Camera Attach:
Offset: 0.1, 0.0, 0.0
Set everything else to zero and untick all the boxes.
Now, go into game mode and use the 'show compass' key (default c+alt) to toggle the night vision. Make the object more opaque to increase the effect. I guarantee that playing the game like this will give you a headache!

For those of us who don't grok ShockEd, what does the above do?

Scanning RocketMan's post for ZB aproved stupidity........failed
Reason for arghhh.........???
Locations of head pieces.......{(4.7 , 6.9) , (-1.6 , 5.2) , (6.2 , -3.7) , memory overflow}

Just wondering, are mods and conversions like this playable in multi? I've always wanted to play Shock 1 with others, and I've never tried playing a mod in Shock 2 Multiplayer. :(
Good luck with this, I really want to play it when it comes out.

We haven't discussed multiplayer support at all - though it's certainly doable.

Oh, good. I'd really like to see that if you can implement it. About the nightvision, there's no v2? (I spent hours looking for it my first time through before I gave up... :p ) Oh well.
Anyway, multi would be a good thing. A very good thing. Oh, and is there a website for this project yet? (Excuse my interest and vast number of questions, I just really like SS1 and the thought of a conversion makes me really want to find out as much as I can. :cheeky:

No, there isn't. G'Len has been trying to get me to put one together but I haven't really had time to do it.

Sorry for not updating much; this college is killing me. Just a few more weeks and then THREE MONTHS OF VACATION!
