This may not work, but with the lack of Tocky recently, and the heaviness of commchat at the moment
totally selfish rants about what bugs you!
Ukelele, that is what bugs me, I hate the bloody thing. Stupid 4 strings, what is even the point?
plink plink, that's all I hear.
"Your 4:30 lesson has arrived"
I sigh.
edit - even though this ended up looking like poetry (of a kind) it wasn't meant to be

Wot? Are you a music teacher or something?
I've played acoustic guitar for around fifteen years, but never took any guitar lessons, which I kind of regret now, as I sometimes feel that I haven't progressed at all for the last fourteen years or so. :D I also bought a ukulele a couple of years ago, but haven't got around to any more advanced stuff than the very basic chords yet. It's a fun little instrument though, and I thought that I'd teach my kids to play it when they get a bit older. Is it a good instrument for kids in your experience?

Well if we're gonna rant, I inadvertantly bought a 3-fer pack on the Unreal Engine Marketplace without realizing I already owned 2 of the content pieces until literally a half second after clicking the buy button. I suppose I can kick myself for it not triggering earlier (it's not visible or always clear that things in different packs may be the same thing, since there's no alert about it). So basically 2/3 of the price was just wasted. And the way they have their refund system set up, basically you don't get a refund unless you show you weren't given what the description promised. It's not going to cover this kind of "mistake" case at all. I'm just stuck with this purchase for something I already own, double-paying for 2 sets.
Aside from the sheer waste of it, I'm pissed about it especially when you compare it with Steam. That couldn't happen in Steam because when you buy a pack, items you already own in the pack are discounted (so you can't double pay for them), or in some cases Steam simply won't let you buy a thing a 2nd time. And then as for refunds, Steam lets you refund a purchase within I think 2 hours of running the game or app no questions asked. Both of those possibilities would have fixed this problem right off. And Epic drops the ball on both of them.
So that put me in a grumpy mood and I kind of want to kick myself but I want to kick Epic even harder for actually inviting this kind of thing to happen the way packs are mixed, and how easy it is to buy things you already own without it being easily apparent, or in a lot of cases you have no choice but double-buy the same things just to get certain sets because there's no alternative.

You should at least try to ask their customer service nicely if you could get a refund. I somehow managed to accidentally buy some full price game on the Humble Store a couple of years ago, and even though their refund policy only says "we issue refunds at our discretion within 60 days", I got my money back without any problems. Epic's refund policy seems a bit unclear to me, so it might be worth trying your luck.
In any case, I hope it wasn't too expensive! :D

I've followed the British Ukulele Orchestra for a number of years now it's cool to see how good that instrument can be in the hands of experts.

I saw them live here in Finland a couple of years ago, and that concert was honestly one of the best that I've ever seen! They're very funny and so talented indeed. That gig was probably one of the reasons that I bought a ukulele, actually.

I'd love to see them live but they don't come to the US much. They will play three locations in California in the spring of 2025 though.

Aren't you a human rights lawyer? Perhaps including your job title/employer info in any messages to this company might make someone pay attention. Alternatively, anyone you know who deals with consumer rights might be quite interested in a large company failing to put a basic customer protection system in place when one of their rivals seems to do it perfectly well.

OMG - a thread where I can get unhinged and outraged at issues of my own choosing. Brilliant?
Don't worry, PigLick. All instruments are torture in the hands of amateurs. But maybe one of your students will break free...
