Let's not forget that belief in witchcraft or sorcery was part of African cultures long before Christian Missionaries™ came around (as indeed it was many other parts of the world as well). There's a famous story of a westerner who tried to relate the story of Hamlet to a group of African villagers, who quickly dismissed her attempts at exegesis as stupid and authoritatively decided that witchcraft was responsible for everything that happened in the story. However, Pentecostals, or Cuntapostles as I call them, have always seemed to be the most prone to religious hysteria of all the denominations, so it's not really a great shock to learn they are involved in this.
