I followed the instructions and used the proper utility to setup Thief Gold and Thief II to run on a dual processor (without crashing) by using only one core. But now when I startup the game, it's very choppy. Even on the menu screen.
Things to note are: My CPU is overclocked and I'm using the widescreen utility if that matters.

do you have ATI HD2xxx (or higher) grahpics chip line card? If yes, that's the culprit od chopiness/low fps in general (long known issue with older D3D/DDraw games on these chipsets - damned ATI - they removed something from the chip die that killed performance in older games + probably messed sth in the drivers!).
Not to mention they removed hardware dithering support from the chip die as well, which killed the visuals in numerous older games relying on it, like Thief 2 and SS2, among many other tiltes from that era (again, thank you ATI!).
