How is that even possible?
What? Being honest? That's a fair and quite a profound point. But I suppose if you were as open to criticism of your own points of view as you are for others it would be a start.
Pre-existing points of view and confirmation bias? That's just human psychology.
The virtual peanut allergy? Well that's not possible. As fas as I know, you won't actually explode if you find something in T4 you don't like.

Be honest, you know more and are just tempering it cautiously.
I know very little about T4. The rest of what informs me amounts to prejudice ~ tempering it with some caution seems reasonable.

It makes you feel secure and nicer to the people making it.
I don't actually have it in for the people who are making it, that's true.

Your happiness with games today fixes no problem in them actively hindering my joy over here
err, and which happiness is that? The last properly boat floating game I played apart from HL2 (and maybe Dishonored) (oh and some indies which have been fabulous) had a LGS logo and a wind chime in the intro movie. But you know what - kickstarter means games are doing interesting things again as far as I can see. And when you've got stuff like Dishonoured and Spec Ops; The Line from AAA publishers setting out deliberately to do interesting things and succeeding - then I'm less impenetrably dismissive.
+ whatever negative vibes I feel about gaming generally, applied to T4 specifically, amounts to prejudice. And I'd seek to temper that in favour of facts and evidence.

Also, again, what are all the media releases for if they contain no truth?
It's a couple of pictures and some snippets of conversation that have been interpreted wildly...

Why design a character for "today's console market" if those words mean nothing at all?
OMG! PEANUTS!!! ...QED.

Lastly, look up and notice how some proud optimists are killing the optimism of others. Every hope I have is being targeted, and it surprises you that I'm not happy afterward?
Apart from it being apparent that you're setting your self up to be disappointed - you will be disappointed by T4. It's a reboot aimed at a new audience with a different set of expectations. It's not going to be a LGS game. That's sad in a way. But it doesn't mean it will be crap, just that it might be.

The last decent game I played was Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Thanks, Eidos Montreal.

'Twas only very average in my book. Though I'm not much of a gamer, so I tend to compare with books and film and science and music and craft and other things - and consider games generally to be a bit, well, below average.
thiefessa on 21/3/2013 at 10:02
It was way above average compared to other games, imo, of course. :)
Yeah, same here with regard to not being much of a gamer. I only play games that are "worthy", if you like.

Haha! I chuckled. :cheeky:

I'm glad to see that (most of) the community has started to move beyond its initial reactions. The red tinged, fanboyish mist has lifted from my eyes and my reactionary response to the press releases now leaves me feeling embaressed. I joined this fandom because everyone here seemed like cool guys, much less nuts than other fandoms i'd flirted with. Threads like this restore my faith in TTLG and prove that no matter how cool the fandom, it's still a fandom and is just as vulnerable to kneejerk reactions to whatever deviates from what it considers 'real.'
At least no one I've seen yet has mentioned Heart and Soul.

Sexist. What about the fangirls?
So, am I filling in the gap if I say TEEF had better keep the same heart and soul of the originals?
