100% 3rd person for combat ATM, according to dev replies on the Steam forum. Yeah nah, not keen.

Sad to say I forgot about the first one. Anyone play it? The reviews are pretty good, but some talk about the base building like it's the main part of the game.

I too would be curious to hear what TTLGers though of this. It's in PS+ Extras right now. I could play it! Very easily! IF I felt inclined to do so!

Fine, I'll do it! I'll play Chernobylite! Guess I gotta do EVERYTHING around here. :grr:

Good on you. Taking the load off my back. At the rate I play games these days, I might never get to it, but it sounds like it turned out really well.

I ended up playing like 3 hours of this thing last night!
It defaults to Russian audio and English subtitles. I said "F THAT! I need my peepers for spotting Zone Ghouls and Crafting Mushrooms, not reading subtitles!" but after a couple hours with the English voices they were so bad I switched back to the Russian. Well, not bad, per se, just wrong. Protagonist had this posh British voice, which for a Ukrainian scientist named Igor, was just wrong.
Anyway, game looks good, but the story ain't much to write home about. The atmosphere is... exactly what you'd expect. Stalker, but with a lot more glowy green shit and every horror trope under the sun. Creepy dolls sitting around and ghosts of your past walking around corners just up ahead out of reach but when you get there THEY'RE GONE! Gasp!
The gameplay tho? Good! It's divided into maintaining up your base and going into the zone to get more supplies and accomplish missions. Reminds me a lot of This War Of Mine, of all things. It's a very compelling game loop. And the zone exploration and stealth/action is fun. Firefights feel tense, and if you can slip out of sight you can sneak around enemies and come up behind them.
I'm kinda hooked on this, for now. We'll see where it goes.
