Do you guys have criminal restitution? It says he was ordered to pay 200 in costs, but "costs" could be anything. Or is it not really a big thing (in cases like this at least, where restitution would be for medical expenses) because your health care system is different/less expensive?
Those costs as mentioned are basically just the cost to the PPS of running the case, likely a certain amount for their time plus a fee for serving of papers on him.

Yeah, they are staunch Catholics. And you could characterise them as massively self-righteous, too. After all, Tony continues to defend the Iraq war based on the fact that he thought it was the right thing to do (ie. never mind anyone else), and I'm sure Cherie personally thought that this was a fair and decent judgement. In both cases, they show a massive lack of respect for the spirit of democracy and procedure.

Always seems to be a lot of god in England and the States when it's about politics. But he couldn't have made that decision on his own. Kinda ironic that if a judge would have the guts/lackofbrains to pass such a sentence on these grounds in an Islamic country like Turkey there would be major riots. But this really has to stop in England, I sometimes get the feeling they are having a pissing contest over who can bend over furthest for the man with the greased sala-Fist.

Am I overestimating people again, salafism is the hardline Saudi version of Islam, that is the most hardcore of them all strict implementation of sharia law, and the most influential breed of Islam in the UK. It isn't violent per se, but it's absolutely undemocratic. Do you people ever read anything else other then game forums.

Oh of course Fragony, you are obviously the only erudite and widely-read patron of the TTLG forums. We are obviously all in awe of the breadth of your knowledge.
Or I might simply have been expressing some disbelief at the entire assertion contained in the last sentence of your post.

Sorry.
What I mean is that political correctness is seriously out of control in the UK. Some aspects of Islam-culture are a real problem, file me under R for racist but that doesn't make it any less true.

Because yeah, that whole attempt to get the UK working under sharia law really took off, didn't it?
:thumb:
(he'd be giving two thumbs up but the evil muslim clerics that secretly run the UK chopped one off)

But are they actually legally recognized? The impression I get is they're essentially by crazy hardliners, for crazy hardliners.
As in, if some muslim dude was told by a sharia court that he couldn't marry some non-muslim woman, and he just said "fuck you", upped and went to a registry office and got married, that would be fine, legally. His community of chosen loons might not approve, but there'd be fuck-all they could do about it, legally.
Or am I wrong?
